Today, 30 May, the spotlight is on Artem Pinchuk, a first-year student of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics. For many years he has been professionally practicing athletics and has been successfully combining sports and excellent studies at the Belarusian National Technical University for almost a year.

The Belarusian National Technical University attracts applicants with a huge number of specialties and the opportunity to study a promising and in-demand profession. It was these advantages that attracted Artem when he was choosing his future place of study. Curiosity and open-mindedness helped the young man to quickly integrate into the educational process and acquire many new acquaintances.
– The first weeks of my studies were very unusual for me. Academic disciplines, environment, campus – all this was unusual for me and at the same time insanely interesting. Already then, I realized that BNTU is a place of a huge number of opportunities for development and self-improvement.
– What specialty are you studying and why was this specific one chosen by you?
– I chose the specialty "robotic systems. Industrial robots and robotic complexes". I was attracted by its demand and relevance.

Looking ahead, we should note that Artem demonstrates excellent results not only during classes, but also at the stadium, where athletics competitions are held.
– I got acquainted with athletics in first grade thanks to a friend of mine who was already actively involved in the sport. I never regretted what I was doing, because athletics teaches you to set goals and achieve them.
According to the young man, athletics is a sport that never gets boring, because it includes more than 20 types, starting with running and ending with hammer throwing. Therefore, it is possible to develop in several of them in parallel and thus constantly learn something new and grow as a professional athlete.
– Please tell us about your most memorable competition.
– The most memorable so far is the selection for the European Athletics Junior Championships, which took place in 2022. To qualify for the squad, you had to complete the triple jump with a minimum of 14.9 meters. I had a fairly good result on my first attempts - 14.6 meters - but it was not enough. There was one last attempt left, which would give me an all or nothing result. Having collected my thoughts, excluding all emotions, I jumped 15.27 meters. So, I passed the selection and at the same time fulfilled the standard of a candidate for master of sports.
It is interesting that Artem does not limit himself with one sport, he tries himself at football, basketball, volleyball and swimming. According to Artem, sport is his source of positive emotions and energy.

At BNTU the young man has also found a use for his abilities. He often takes part in university competitions and firmly believes that it is both possible and necessary to combine study and sport.
– A real student, in my opinion, should be disciplined, hardworking, motivated and aspiring. Sport allows to multiply these qualities in a person, which makes it a great inclusion in student life.
We thank Artem for the interview and wish him success in his studies and professional sport!
