Congratulations of the Rector of BNTU on Victory Day

Поздравление Ректора БНТУ с Днем Победы

Dear veterans, employees and students of the Belarusian National Technical University! Dear colleagues! Please accept my sincere congratulations on the great national holiday – Victory Day!

Victory Day is one of the most revered holidays in the Belarusian land. This day has become a symbol of the unprecedented courage, indomitable will and spiritual greatness of the people. We honor veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War with deep respect, we remember the departed heroes who burned in the fire of that terrible war. Our civic duty is to preserve the most valuable thing that the victorious soldiers won: peace and freedom.

In 2024, Belarus marks the 80th anniversary of liberation from the Nazi invaders. This is a significant page in the history of our state, the apotheosis of the three-year struggle of the Belarusian people against the Nazi occupiers. The heroism of our ancestors lives in every city and village, is passed down from generation to generation, passes from heart to heart, and our sacred duty is to preserve this memory and suppress any attempts to rewrite history.

The Great Patriotic War is an indelible mark on the lives of millions of people. In the first days of these terrible events, the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute temporarily ceased its activities, and teachers and students, following the call of their hearts, went to the front to defend their Motherland. Unfortunately, not everyone managed to return alive, but the memory of their feat will always live in our hearts. Thanks to their courage and bravery, today thousands of students of the Belarusian National Technical University have the opportunity to receive higher education under a peaceful and bright sky.

Year by year, there are fewer and fewer participants in that terrible war, but we do not forget about their acts of bravery and the significance they have for the entire world history. On this day, we hasten to congratulate the veterans and thank them for their generous gift - our life and independence. It is important that our youth honor the memory of the defenders of our Fatherland and actively participate in the preservation of these shrines.

On the fourth of May, the XIX International Athletics Student Run started in Izhevsk, which originated 20 years ago in May 2003 as part of the implementation of the intergovernmental agreement between the Republic of Belarus and the Udmurt Republic of the Russian Federation. The routes run along Belarusian and Russian roads, which led our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers to a Great Victory. The purpose of the run is to preserve the  truth about the war for future generations, and also to always remember at what cost, with what enormous efforts of fraternal peoples, we got the Victory. It is our sacred duty to preserve this memory, pass it on to the next generations and stop any attempts to rewrite history.

Today, working for the good and prosperity of our country, each of us strives to be a worthy heir to the heroes who, without sparing their lives, fought the enemy in bloody battles, worked in the rear and forged the weapon of Victory.

On this significant day for every Belarusian, please accept the most sincere wishes of good health, happiness, family well-being, successful and creative work for the benefit of the Fatherland. May there always be a peaceful sunny sky over the Motherland, and your home will be filled with joy, love, and warmth!

Happy Great Victory Day!

Sincerely,
Rector of BNTU S. Kharytonchyk
