Today, on March 1, the XXI specialized exhibition for school children, applicants, students and parents "Education and Career" is taking place in the Falcon Club Arena complex. We can tell everything in our report from the first day of the exhibition.
So, simultaneously with the start of the exhibition at 10:00, the stands of more than 130 exhibitors became available to visitors. Among them are Belarusian and Russian universities, colleges, lyceums, institutes of postgraduate education, educational centers, schools for the study of foreign languages and leading industrial enterprises of the Republic of Belarus.
The epicenter of valuable knowledge about professions and universities where they can be obtained has already gathered applicants from all over the country. Thus, Egor and Alexander, students of the gymnasium of Baranovichi, arrived at the exhibition as part of an organized study group. We talked with them at the BNTU stand, where the guys were studying the specialties of the energy faculty.
– Now we are studying in the 11th grade of technical orientation, physics and mathematics. At the exhibition, accordingly, we are looking for technical specialties, studying this issue in order to quickly decide on a university. That is why we are very glad that today we have a unique opportunity to learn about all suitable specialties in one place,” said Egor.
– It is Power Engineering faculty that interests me at the Belarusian National Technical University, since my older brother is currently studying there. Receiving positive feedback from him about his studies, I see admission to BNTU as one of the options," Alexander added.
The BNTU stand traditionally presents information on career guidance. Teachers and students of the Polytechnic answered the questions of both students and their parents. Nearby, the staff of the Institute of Integrated Forms of Education and Monitoring of Education offered the children to take a career guidance test based on the results of which the most suitable professions for a person will be selected.
Rector Sergey Kharitonchik, who also came to the opening of the exhibition, told about the new specialty of the Instrument Engineering Faculty of BNTU.
– Today we talk a lot about innovation, and that's right. One of the priorities of our country is the creation of electronic systems and components. The students, and subsequently graduates of the new specialty "technology of microsensory systems" will be engaged in solving these problems. By choosing this direction and its prospects, young people determine their future.
In traditional specialties, we boldly talk about updating curricula and programs, which makes each of them innovative. The demand for technical specialties is huge, and their graduates are in demand in the real sector of the economy. Decent pay, a social package and high competitiveness in the labor market are all about our graduates.
The opening ceremony of the event took place at 12:00 on the interactive site of the exhibition. It was attended by Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrey Ivanets, Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev, Chairman of the Board of the Belkoopsoyuz Inessa Korotkevich and Deputy Minister of Architecture and Construction Alexander Balashenko.
In his speech, Andrey Ivanovich drew attention to the multifaceted nature of the exhibition and its practical significance for young people.
– We are launching a large republican campaign "I choose my profession". The opening of the 21st International exhibition "Education and Career" is the first starting point for its holding. A distinctive feature of this year's event was that we combined all professional education on one site, which includes more than 40 colleges, all universities in our country, and most importantly, our enterprises, the real sector of the economy, enterprises of the Ministry of Industry, Light Industry, the Belgospishcheprom concern, the Ministry of Construction and Architecture. In fact, this is a platform where all those interested in both training highly qualified personnel and making an informed choice of their profession have met. We see the genuine interest that the exhibition arises among young people.
After the opening, we decided to personally familiarize ourselves with the exhibition and find out what higher education institutions offer applicants today and how the exhibition can surprise young researchers. As a result, we realized that decorating a cake, sawing a fir tree, weaving a canvas and showing our knowledge in the banking sector is not a complete list of possible activities that the exhibitors represent. The charm of the exhibition "Education and Career" lies precisely in the fact that, choosing a future profession, you can try yourself in it at the same moment.
It should also be noted that today the exhibition was attended not only by applicants, but also by senior students who are looking at their first jobs. At the Minsk Automobile Plant’s stand we were told about the positions of BNTU graduates at this enterprise.
– Today, graduates of BNTU can be appointed for the positions of "design engineer", "process engineer", as well as for a foreman. Young specialists can prove themselves in a variety of areas. Graduates of creative technical specialties are also in demand in the design of both products and their spare parts.
We provide each young specialist with a room in the hostel. They are provided with a monthly allowance of 100 rubles, payments for each year of extension of employment relations, a bonus food program, financial assistance for vacations, gifts for holidays and much more, an active social life, within which tourist gatherings, concerts, sports and cultural events are held and also wellness is offered," said the deputy head of the personnel management Department Larisa Kologriv.
It is difficult to talk about each of the many possibilities of the exhibition, so we recommend taking the time to visit the exposition in person. In accordance with the extensive program, more than 100 events will be held, including workshops and interactive platforms. Anyone can take a centralized exam or centralized testing, professional testing and consciously choose a profession both at the level of secondary specialized and higher education.
