Yesterday, on February 29, 2024, the traditional Festival of National Cultures was held at the Belarusian National Technical University.
For reference: BNTU is a multinational university that unites students from 58 countries of the world. Every year, the BNTU Department of Cultural Affairs and the Faculty of International Cooperation organize a Festival of National Cultures to enrich cultures and get acquainted with the traditions of the peoples of the world.
The event opened with an exhibition, which presented traditional clothes, dishes and souvenirs of various peoples. In addition, visitors could take part in workshops and quizzes to get to know and immerse themselves in Asian, African and other cultures.
The main event of the festival was the gala concert. Representatives of the BNTU administration, ambassadors of seven countries, as well as foreign BNTU students from China, Russia, Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan, Comoros, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia and others took part in it.
Timur Matiushinets, Vice-rector for Educational Work at BNTU, addressed the audience and participants of the event with a welcoming speech. He thanked the honored guests for their visit to the BNTU and noted that the Festival is a symbol of unity and friendship between numerous states.
More than 20 performances, different in mood, genre and atmosphere, were presented by the speakers. The audience enjoyed emotional songs, vibrant folk dances and sensual playing of musical instruments.
The guests were particularly impressed by the sound of the Chinese stringed instrument erhu. Gently and carefully, student Li Piao played a beautiful melody in the best traditions of her homeland.
Turkmen dances looked synchronized and spectacular. The guys completely devoted themselves to the stage, so the performances will be remembered by the audience for a long time.
Belarusian poetry performed by a student from Tajikistan, Mukhammadjon Nazarov, sounded unusual, but no less beautiful. The young man read Maxim Bogdanovich's famous romance "Zorka Venus".
At the end of the concert, the Vice-rector for Research of BNTU Ksenia Yakushenko and Timur Matiushinets presented diplomas and prizes to the participants.
In 2024, the best performance of the Festival was chosen by a jury from among representatives of BNTU faculties and public organizations. As a result, the best performance of the Festival of National Cultures, according to the decision of the student jury, was the team from Turkmenistan consisting of the following students:
The guys performed an incendiary Turkmen dance and received the Grand Prix.
