The Department of "Social Management" has been operating since December 1, 2021 in accordance with the order of the BNTU Rectorate No. 73-P dated October 28, 2021 "On the restructuring of the structural unit of the BNTU" in order to further improve the activities of the BNTU in training specialists of the 1st stage of higher education, improving the teaching of theoretical socio-political courses, contributing to an increase in the effectiveness of educational and ideological work.
At the same time, the department has a long, more than half a century history, having passed through the stages of humanization of higher education in the USSR and the Republic of Belarus with different names.
In university technical education, humanitarian knowledge is both the most important means of educating a patriotic citizen and the fundamental foundation of professional knowledge. Any technological mode is a consequence of the social system and social management, society is an embracing system for technology, which creates and uses this technology, based on the level of development of its culture and its interests. Only on the basis of understanding the patterns and trends in the development of society is it possible to know the processes of development of science and technology. Humanitarianization has always been and will be the most important factor in the development of education.
The following disciplines are taught at the department: "Political Science", "Fundamentals of the ideology of the Belarusian state", "Political institutions and political processes", "Sociology", " Applied sociology ", etc.
We remind students of socio-political disciplines the opinion of the world-famous physicist Albert Einstein about them. At a conference at Princeton in January 1946, he was asked the question:
“Dr. Einstein, why is it that when the human mind was able to comprehend the structure of the atom, we could not develop political means so that the atom would not destroy us?”
“It's simple, my friend. This is because politics is much more complicated than physics ,” Einstein replied.
