Chief mechanic department and its functional purpose

The chief mechanic department is an independent structural unit of the enterprise and reports to the chief engineer or his deputy.

Department tasks:

Maintaining controlled plumbing, heat power and heat-using equipment and engineering networks of the Belarusian National Technical University in good working order through timely and high-quality routine repairs and maintenance.

Department structure:

The chief mechanic's department includes teams for maintaining plumbing equipment and external engineering networks of academic buildings and the campus, ventilation systems, metering devices and automatic control systems, an emergency repair team and a team for operating the gas boiler room of the student sanatorium-preventorium “Polytechnic”.

Department functions:

1. Annual development of plans for all types of routine repairs of controlled plumbing and heat-using equipment and utility networks, monitoring the quality of their implementation.
2. Drawing up defective reports for controlled equipment and utility networks that are out of order and require repair, replacement or scheduled maintenance.
3. Drawing up technical specifications for the performance of work to provide services for state verification and routine maintenance, routine repair of equipment, emergency restoration work on heating networks, water supply and domestic sewerage.
4. Development and implementation of measures to prevent emergency situations on utility networks, breakdowns and increased wear of equipment.
5. Inclusion in the energy saving program of heat and water consumption facilities that do not meet modern requirements for the rational use of fuel and energy resources. Introduction of energy saving measures.
6. Supporting work on the implementation of current repairs, in accordance with annual plans, requiring the development and approval of design and estimate documentation.
7. Accounting for the availability and movement of materials and equipment for routine repairs and maintenance, purchasing missing ones.
8. Accounting and control of coolant and water consumption for heating, ventilation and domestic hot water needs, monthly reporting, analysis of the efficient use of energy resources.
9. Emergency restoration work on damaged external heating, water supply and sewerage networks, internal heating and water supply systems.
10. Preparation of the university’s thermal management system for the heating season and receipt of four readiness check reports and four readiness certificates for consumers and the heat source.
11. Providing constant assistance in resolving technical issues on heat and water supply and energy saving to related departments of the chief engineer service, capital construction department, and administrative and economic service.
12. Acceptance into permanent operation of completed construction projects after major repairs, modernization, reconstruction and new construction.
13. Implementation of measures to eliminate the regulations and requirements of energy supply organizations, water utilities, Gosenergogaznadzor, Gospromnadzor.
