Today, July 11, in our country, Day of Alcoholism Prevention is held. This is an important date, designed to remind each of us about the value of health and the irreversible consequences that alcohol consumption entails. Alcohol does not spare age, gender, or social status – it poses a threat to everyone.
Alcoholism is a chronic, slowly progressing disease. It is characterized by a pathological craving for alcohol and, in advanced cases, persistent disorders of the psyche and internal organs. It is important to remember that any alcoholic beverage is a poison for the body, and its consumption often leads to severe intoxication.
Young people are especially vulnerable to alcohol. In adolescents and young adults, addiction develops much faster than in older generations. In a young body, tolerance to alcohol increases rapidly, hangover syndrome develops, and the character acquires psychopathic traits – aggression, anger, and antisocial behavior appear.
The disease develops gradually. In the first stage, a person loses the gag reflex and increases the dose to get drunk. In the second stage, a physical addiction forms: the morning “hangover” becomes the norm, tremors, heart pain, hypertension, and intellectual degradation appear. The third stage is the end, when small doses are enough to get drunk. The main condition for successful treatment is the sincere desire of the patient himself. Methods of struggle include psychotherapy, hypnosis, acupuncture, and medical implantation. However, prevention remains the most effective way.
The formation of motivation for a healthy lifestyle is crucial for young people. Positive attitude and stress management skills work better than just bullying. It is important to develop personal resources, learn to say "no" and find support in the family and team.
Alcohol is foreign to our body. Even small doses can damage nerve cells and destroy the liver and stomach. Remember that alcoholism is easier to prevent than to treat. Seeking help from a narcologist or psychotherapist is crucial for success and maintaining a fulfilling life. Take care of yourself and your future! Health is the only resource that cannot be replenished.
