Eternal memory and sorrow. Employees and students of BNTU took part in the mourning events at Trostenets

Вечная память и скорбь. Работники и студенты БНТУ приняли участие в траурных мероприятиях в Тростенце

Today, on June 22, the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People, a mourning rally-requiem was held at the Trostenets Memorial Complex. Representatives of the Belarusian National Technical University, led by Rector Sergei Kharitonchik, took part in the ceremony.

Exactly 85 years ago, on June 22, 1941, Belarus was the first country to receive a devastating attack from Nazi Germany. The flames of war have passed through every Belarusian family: one in three Belarusians lost their lives during those terrible years. Today, decades later, the pain of loss remains, and the memory of our ancestors' heroic deeds becomes even more sacred.

The Trostenets Memorial Complex holds a special place in the sorrowful history of the Great Patriotic War. During the occupation, the Nazis killed over 200,000 civilians and prisoners of war on this site.

During the solemn requiem rally, the audience honored the memory of all those who fell victim to the inhuman Nazi ideology and gave their lives in the name of the Great Victory. At the foot of the Gate of Memory monument, words of sorrow and gratitude were spoken in honor of the fallen heroes.

The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence, during which representatives of the Belarusian National Technical University bowed their heads in memory of the war's victims. Afterward, flowers were laid at the monument.

It is crucial for us, the descendants of the victors, to preserve the truth about this war. Trostenets is not just a place of mourning, it is a reminder of the price we have paid for freedom. We must remember and pass this memory on to future generations, – said Daniil Kostyuk, a student at the Faculty of Automotive Engineering.

The tragedy of the war has no statute of limitations, and the feat of the Soviet people will forever remain in the hearts of grateful descendants. BNTU remembers!
