Today, on June 10, a meeting between the university administration and the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with foreign students was held at BNTU. The main goal of the dialogue platform is to remind foreign students about the rules of conduct, legislation, and regulations for staying in Belarus.
The meeting was attended by Yuri Nikolaychik, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at BNTU, Pavel Shirvel, Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation, and Ivan Novikov, Head of the Department of Citizenship and Migration at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.
Yuri Nikolaychik emphasized that such dialogues are held on a regular basis.
"The main goal of these meetings is to provide foreign students with information about the norms, rules, and laws that apply in the Republic of Belarus, including those related to the stay of foreign citizens. I want this meeting to be not only a monologue, but also a discussion. You can ask any questions about your personal problems or ideas. We have a group of responsible people here who are ready to answer them.
Ivan Novikov thanked the students and the university administration for the opportunity to hold such a dialogue and highlighted the key conditions for successful education in Belarus.
"You have come to our country with a very important and significant goal: to receive an education and become a specialist in your field. We wish every student success." I would like to draw your attention to a number of conditions that are necessary for achieving this goal: mastering educational programs, complying with the university's academic regulations, and fulfilling the terms of the educational contract. Each of you who is currently in our country is obligated to know and comply with our country's laws, as well as to respect our national symbols and traditions.
The meeting was held in the form of an open dialogue. Students were able to ask questions and receive explanations from the university's top officials and government representatives.
Topics related to migration laws were particularly interesting. In particular, students were interested in the following: what are the conditions for obtaining a residence permit, and does the residence permit expire (after 5 years) if you go home for the holidays?
The response from the Department of Citizenship and Migration was as follows: going abroad for the holidays does not interrupt the validity of the residence permit. The main condition is to stay outside of Belarus for no more than 90 consecutive days. It is also important to notify the migration authorities in a timely manner about your departure and return in accordance with the established procedure. For detailed advice on the conditions for obtaining a residence permit, students are advised to contact the Citizenship and Migration Department at their place of registration or at their university.
BNTU will continue to hold such meetings to ensure that every international student feels confident and comfortable in Belarus, knowing their rights and responsibilities
