The 2026 admission campaign will start very soon. To help applicants make one of the most important choices in their lives, we are launching the "Do the right Thing" section. In it, we will take a detailed look at each faculty. The first in line is the Faculty of Automotive Engineering (ATF).
The Faculty of Automotive Engineering is rightfully considered the leading training center for specialists in the country's transport and engineering industries. For everyone who is passionate about cars and technology, the faculty is the undisputed leader among educational platforms. ATF is constantly developing, and its main goal is to train highly qualified personnel for the transport complex of the Republic of Belarus.
For reference: the main customers of ATF personnel are large machine—building enterprises, such as JSC Minsk Automobile Plant, the management company of BELAVTOMAZ Holding, JSC Minsk Tractor Plant, JSC BELAZ, the management company of BELAZ—HOLDING, CJSC ATLANT, JSC AMKODOR, the management company of BELAZ—HOLDING. the holding company, agro-industrial complexes, service centers and transport organizations, government agencies, as well as organizations related to transport and infrastructure.
Sergey Skirkovsky, Dean of the Faculty of Automotive Engineering, shared how the faculty grew from four areas to 15 specialties, the key role of practice at leading factories and its own design bureau, and why a modern engineer should be ready to study for life.
— The Faculty of Automotive Engineering covers a wide range of engineering areas that are in demand in various sectors of the economy: from automotive engineering to accident expertise. The training is aimed both at training practice-oriented engineers and at developing scientific potential. An important feature of the training is a strong practical base. Students complete production internships at leading enterprises: MTZ, BELAZ, MAZ, MZKT, BKM, BelOMO and others, as well as in research institutes and government organizations. The faculty is constantly developing. In the early years of his work, he trained engineers in four areas – "automobile transport", "automotive engineering", "tractor engineering" and "agricultural mechanization", but today ATF is training in 15 full–time and 8 part-time specialties. Starting from the new academic year, modern educational laboratories will be opened, equipped with the direct participation of the leaders of the BELAZ and MTZ transport engineering industries. In 2025, the first student design bureau in the Republic of Belarus was opened at the faculty. During the first year of its operation, the participants achieved notable success: the Universal Electric Platform project became the winner of the Republican contest "100 Ideas for Belarus". The Faculty of Automotive Engineering offers applicants broad prospects for professional development in the dynamically developing field of mechanical engineering and transport. It trains specialists who are in demand at the country's leading enterprises. The key advantage of studying at the Faculty of Automotive Engineering is the combination of fundamental training with a practice-oriented approach. Students receive not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills necessary for successful work in modern conditions. A modern engineer should have not only technical literacy, but also developed logical thinking and a creative approach to solving problems. Success in the profession depends on the willingness to continuous development and self-education. The Faculty creates all conditions for the formation of highly qualified specialists capable of solving complex technical problems and contributing to the development of the industry. Graduates' career prospects cover a wide range of fields, from automotive engineering to transport logistics, which makes education at the faculty versatile and in demand in the labor market.
— The admission campaign is an important but quite surmountable stage with proper preparation and a clear understanding of your goals. Therefore, I advise you to consciously choose a field of study – it should be really interesting and close in spirit; pay special attention to preparing for entrance tests in mathematics, physics and specialized disciplines; develop logical thinking and technical flair – these qualities are critically important for an engineer; be ready for continuous training: a modern specialist should not only possess technical literacy. but also be able to master new technologies. Choosing an automotive engineering faculty is the first step towards a successful career in a dynamically developing industry. Here, students receive not just a diploma, but real competencies that are in demand at the country's leading enterprises.

Students of the Faculty of Automotive Engineering are actively involved in the key events of the university, both in the scientific, sports and creative fields.
In 2025, the first student design bureau in the Republic of Belarus was opened at the faculty. During the first year of its work, its participants achieved notable success: at the republican youth project "100 Ideas for Belarus" in the nomination "Industrial and Construction Technologies" in 2026, master's student Ilya Gornak and students Pavel Faley and Valery Nevertovich won with the project "Universal electric driving part for a car".
ATF students also participate in large-scale sports competitions. In the "Battle of Faculties — 2025" event, the Faculty of Automotive Engineering showed strong results in several disciplines: first place in streetball, table tennis, and third place in tug of war. According to the results of all the competitive days, the ATF team took the second place.
In addition to sports and scientific events, ATF students and teachers actively participate in socially significant projects. Thus, in the final of the republican contest "The experience of the best of Belaya Rus – the heritage of society", the project of the Faculty of Automotive Engineering "Quiet Road: safe means of personal mobility for everyone" was noted among the winners. Daria Bugayeva, a graduate student at the faculty, became the coordinator of the ATF volunteer group of students involved in the development and promotion of project ideas. The project managers are Elena Grinevich, Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work at ATF, and Sergey Semchenkov, Associate Professor of the Department of Transport Systems and Technologies.
