Today, on June 4, the delegation of the Belarusian National Technical University completed its visit to Gomel State Technical University named after P.O. Sukhoi. The delegation included Vice-rector for Ideological and Educational Work Timur Matyushinets, Head of the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs Irina Good, Deputy Head of the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs Vitaly Adamovich, Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work of the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy Julia Susha, Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work of the Faculty of Architecture Alesya Janusz and representatives of the BNTU youth structures.
Two days full of exchange of experience, new acquaintances and discoveries proved once again that a solid and reliable bridge has been built between the two technical universities of the country.
For reference: the republican project "Student Bridge: Youth Mobility as a tool for developing partnership, exchanging ideas, and innovations" is an initiative of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Republican Institute of Higher Education. The project format involves students visiting other universities in our country in order to exchange experiences in the development of the student movement, the implementation of patriotic, social and educational projects.
Yesterday, the BNTU delegation got acquainted with Gomel, its infrastructure and traditions. Today, students and staff had a busy program at the university. In the morning, the students of the two universities met as part of a music quiz. The teams competed in knowledge of the hits of the 90s, 00s and 20s. The atmosphere was really lively.
BNTU students also had guided tours of the laboratories and faculties of GSTU. The students saw the scientific developments and research of their colleagues, and were also able to evaluate the modern material and technical base of the university.
— I was very impressed by the laboratories of GSTU. I especially remember the robotics laboratory. It's really cool that the guys assemble and program the existing layouts themselves. The robot dog "Simba" was especially impressed. It is clear that engineering is moving in the same direction both here and in Gomel," said Vladislav Fedorov, a student at the Faculty of Instrument Engineering.
The key event of the day was a round table dedicated to the exchange of experience in organizing youth events. Representatives of the GSTU student club shared the best practices of conducting creative events, and activists of the student government told about their work, principles and successful projects. The meeting was held in the format of an open dialogue: sincere questions, honest answers, live examples and plans for joint initiatives.
At the end of the visit, the BNTU delegation visited the Partizanskaya Krynichka memorial complex. The guests got acquainted with the history of the partisan movement in the Gomel region and visited the dugouts where the partisans lived and planned their operations during the Great Patriotic War.
— It's like being at home at the Sukhoi State Technical University, because it's also a technical university. Many specialties and faculties overlap. It is very important that young people interact, because the connections that are being established between the younger generation in the scientific, cultural, and ideological spheres are very important. In the future, BNTU implements many projects in cooperation with GSTU. This event is also important for student mobility. During these two days, the children got acquainted with the historical heritage of Homel region, saw the partisan village, partisan sites, and learned historical facts about how the underground of the partisan movement was formed. This is very important because it popularizes tourism within our country," Timur Matyushinets said.
We would like to thank the representatives of the Sukhoi State Technical University for their warm welcome, rich program and pleasant memories. The student bridge between universities has not only taken place, but also promises to become a regular and significant tradition that strengthens the unity of Belarusian engineering education and youth policy.
