"Quiet Road": A practical safety lesson for children with hearing impairments was held at the BNTU ATF.

«Тихая дорога»: на базе АТФ прошло практическое занятие по безопасности для детей с нарушением слуха

Yesterday, May 19, a lesson on developing practical road safety skills was held at the Automobile and Tractor Engineering Faculty of the Belarusian National Technical University as part of the project "Quiet Road: Safe Personal Mobility for Everyone," a grant-winning project for children with hearing impairments from the Belaya Rus NGO.

For reference: the project is being implemented under the auspices of the Belaya Rus NGO and is aimed at improving the safety of vulnerable road users. As the initiative's creators emphasize, supporting the project is a contribution to saving children's lives and building a safe, inclusive society.

The first introductory lesson was held for students in grade 8C of Minsk's Jose Marti Secondary School No. 91. The classes for the students were led by Elena Grinevich, the project director and Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work at the ATF; Sergey Semchenkov, Deputy Dean for Research at the ATF; and student volunteers Algerd Fedorenchik and Alexander Poverenny.

The theoretical part of the inclusive event included a lecture on traffic rules, using visual aids, subtitles, and adapted explanations. The students learned the minimum age to operate an electric scooter, where driving is permitted, how to cross the road, the speed limit on sidewalks and bike paths, and the required equipment: a white headlight in front, a red taillight, a horn, and reflectors. The practical part, which included quests, reinforced the rules through games and simulations of real-life traffic situations.

At the end of the event, participants were presented with souvenir gifts and treated to hot, flavorful pizza. The children were very impressed, and the smiles on their faces were the best reward for the organizers.
