More than just science. How BNTU unites hearts

Больше, чем просто наука. Как БНТУ объединяет сердца

Today, May 15, is Family Day in Belarus, a holiday of warmth, loyalty, and mutual understanding. For the Belarusian National Technical University, this date is an opportunity to tell about those who prove every day that it is possible to work and create shoulder to shoulder, even as husband and wife.

At BNTU, there are many employees who are not only connected by a common cause, but also by family ties. A striking example of such a "scientific family" is Ekaterina Korsak, Chair of the BNTU Council of Young Scientists and a senior lecturer at the Department of Economics and Organization of Energy at the Faculty of Energy, and Evgeny Mikhasik, a senior lecturer at the Department of Technology and Teaching Methods at the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy.

— How did you meet? Did your scientific activities at BNTU influence your meeting and decision to start a family?

— We met during a forum for young scientists. This was an event designed to bring together people who are passionate about science and share their experiences and knowledge. It was a platform for meeting new people, not just those related to work. It was the shared atmosphere and interest in research that helped us see each other not just as colleagues, but as kindred spirits," said Evgeny Igorevich.

Ekaterina Pavlovna works in the field of energy security, exploring ways to optimize the supply of energy resources to consumers. Evgeny Igorevich, on the other hand, is involved in the development of new filter materials that are designed to work in the air.

— Unfortunately, our interests do not overlap directly. However, we read each other's articles and look for errors and typos, which is our personal contribution to the quality of publications, — said Ekaterina Korsak.

— Do you have any joint scientific projects, articles, or publications?

— Since our scientific interests are far from each other, it is not possible to come up with joint articles. However, when we listen to stories about how we work on new discoveries at home, we provide advice and suggest unconventional solutions, which sometimes become the basis for our personal articles and publications.

Evgeny Igorevich and Ekaterina Pavlovna shared their advice for young scientists who also want to start a family but are afraid of having to choose between family and science.

— You should always find someone with whom you feel comfortable not just living under the same roof, but actually living life: enjoying, believing, empathizing, supporting, and loving. If you are next to such a person, then both work will be a joy, and the VAK is not scary!

Congratulations to all the families of BNTU on the holiday! Let your research be successful, the house is cozy, and joint evenings for discussing innovative projects are replaced by rest in the circle of loved ones.
