BNTU expands horizons for applicants: a new specialty and specialization opens at the FTC

 In 2026, the Belarusian National Technical University continues to expand horizons in training personnel. The Faculty of Transport Communications (FTK) is starting recruitment for two new specialties: "Road Construction and Lifting and Transport Machinery and Equipment," with a focus on "Lifting and Transport Machinery, Elevators, and Continuous Transport Machinery," and "Construction of Transport Communications," with a focus on "Highways and Airports." 

According to Alexander Bezhik, Head of the Department of Mechanization and Automation of the Road Construction Complex at the Faculty of Transport and Communications, the program of this specialty trains engineers who can design and modernize complex equipment. Key features of the specialization:

  • the form of education is 5 years (full-time study);
  • the qualification is engineer;
  • the degree is master's;
  • the enrollment plan for 2026 is 25 students;
  • the entrance exams are Belarusian/Russian, mathematics, and physics. 

The main customers of the specialty are such organizations as ChUP “Vitstroytekhmash”, OJSC “Amkodor” – the holding management company, OJSC “Belavtodor” holding management company, OJSC “Liftservice”, OJSC “Mogilevliftmash”, OJSC “Bellift”, OJSC “MTZ” and others, – said Alexander Alexandrovich.

Engineers who have acquired the skills of automated design of parts, units and machines have the opportunity to work successfully at the enterprises of the city of Minsk and at more than 30 machine-building enterprises of Belarus, which produce technological machines of the construction complex. 

The training of specialists in the field of “Hoisting and transport machines, elevators, and continuous transport machines” includes theoretical and practical training. It covers the knowledge necessary for the operation, repair, design, and modernization of such equipment. For example, knowledge about the design, operation, maintenance, and safe operation of hoisting and transport machines and elevators, as well as continuous transport machines, - said Alexander Bezhik. 

 The key disciplines include the study of the operation of hoisting and transport machines, continuous transport machines, as well as structural mechanics, the design of hoisting and transport and warehouse systems, and the design of special cranes and construction machines. Special attention is also paid to training in the management of maintenance services and technical expertise of lifting and transport machines.

The main types of professional activity for a specialist are:

  • manufacturing of lifting and rigging equipment;
  • repair of general and special-purpose machines and equipment;
  • installation and assembly of other engineering equipment that is not included in other groups;
  • other scientific research and development in the field of natural and technical sciences, excluding biotechnology.

As Alexander Bezhik noted, a specialist can perform other types of professional activity, provided that their level of education and acquired competencies meet the requirements for the employee's qualifications.

 – The demand for graduates of this specialty exceeds the number of specialists produced, and the level of remuneration is quite high, given the required knowledge.

The specialty is “Construction of Transport Communications,” with a focus on “Automobile Roads and Airfields.” 

 Egor Zhukovsky, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Transport Communications, spoke in detail about this specialty. 

 – This is a unique specialization in Belarus that specifically trains specialists for both road and airfield infrastructure.

Key features of the specialization:

  • the duration of education is 5 years (full-time);
  • qualification – civil engineer;
  • degree – master;
  • the recruitment plan for 2026 – 90 people;
  • CE/CT – Belarusian / Russian language, mathematics, physics. 

Also, a reduced part-time form of study is provided. 

  • the term of study – 4 years;
  • Number of places – 10 on a state-funded basis, 10 on a paid basis;
  • entrance exams – written “construction materials and products” and “foundations of engineering graphics”. 

 Students will be trained to build and maintain highways, construct runways, aprons, and taxiways, as well as diagnose and repair airfield surfaces. Special emphasis is placed on modern technologies, including information modeling, innovative road construction materials, and non-destructive testing methods. From the first years of study, students will have the opportunity to gain practical experience at real-world facilities.

- Our graduates work in design institutes (BeldorNII, Belgiprodor, MinskInzhProekt), in companies of the Belavtodor holding, as well as in organizations that serve airfields, such as Belaeronavigatsiya and RUE Minsk Airport,- said Egor Mikhailovich. 

Given Belarus' unique transit position, the demand for engineers who understand both roads and airfields is not decreasing, but only growing every year — the country is building new highways, reconstructing airports, and modernizing urban street and road networks.
