On January 23, the republican meeting of the scientific community dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science was held at the Minsk International Exhibition Center. Representatives of the Belarusian National Technical University took an active part in the events of the meeting.
The program of the meeting included sections in four areas: "Academic science of Belarus", "Branch science", "Certification of highly qualified researchers: problems and prospects" and "The current state and prospects of scientific research development at universities". The participants of the sections discussed topical issues and trends in the field of science and education, as well as shared their experiences and ideas.
While participating in the fourth section, BNTU Rector Sergei Kharytonchyk shared his thoughts on the event's activities:
– A meeting of the scientific community is always an important stage in preparing for any new, serious research. On this day, new challenges are always presented, and we see new areas in which we can collaborate with our partners. We see how this work is being organized and various results are being summarized, including at exhibitions. The event taking place today is very important for the scientific community, as it is not only a celebration but also an opportunity to discuss the problems that need to be solved and to set new tasks.
The head of the country's leading technical university also spoke about the role of the university's scientific activities in the Belarusian economy:
– Our research is quite promising and important for our country's economy because we cover a wide range of vital areas with our research. This includes mechanical, automotive, tractor and machine tool manufacturing. When it comes to other engineering fields, energy is the most in-demand, and our research in this area is extremely important. Therefore, we are literally cutting-edge in all areas. We set high goals for ourselves to solve current problems and implement them.
In the first half of the day, the exhibition of achievements of the sovereign Belarus "My Belarus" was also organized. The exhibition featured cutting-edge developments of Belarusian enterprises and organizations in various industries. The exhibitors also included handicrafts, national products and cultural heritage items.
In the afternoon, a ceremonial meeting was held where outstanding scientists of Belarus were awarded, including employees of the BNTU.
Thus, Igor Kachanov, Head of the Department of Hydrotechnical and energy construction, water transport and hydraulics, was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus for long-term fruitful scientific and pedagogical activity, significant personal contribution to the training of highly qualified personnel for the national economy.
Valery Sheleg, Head of the Department of Engineering Technology, was awarded the Honorary Certificate of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus for his long-term fruitful scientific and pedagogical activity, significant personal contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists, and the development of integration links between education, science and production.
The professors received their awards from the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Viktor Karankevich.
The day ended with a festive concert and congratulations from the awarded scientists and employees of the scientific and educational community.
