A Solemn meeting of the staff dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Belarusian National Technical University

Today, December 12, a solemn meeting of the workforce was held in the assembly hall of the main educational building, dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Belarusian National Technical University. The event was the final highlight of the festive week, bringing together the leadership of the Polytechnic, representatives of government authorities, partner organizations, foreign universities, as well as employees and veterans of BNTU. 

The event was opened by hosts Dmitry Yurgevich and Arina Kolesova. After welcoming the guests, the audience's attention was drawn to a film dedicated to the university's more than century-long history.

A particularly ceremonial moment was the presentation of the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus and the banner of BNTU, adorned with the Order of Labor Glory and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. To the sounds of the National Anthem performed by the People's Choir, the ceremonial meeting was officially declared open.

The rector of BNTU, Sergei Kharytonchyk, addressed the attendees of the event with a welcoming speech. He highlighted the most significant events that took place at the university from 2021 to 2025.

– I am sincerely pleased to welcome everyone and congratulate you on the 105th anniversary of the Belarusian National Technical University. I am very glad to note that year after year, the conditions for students to receive an education are significantly improving. We have long moved beyond academic theories and are actively engaging with the economy. We are creating joint laboratories, engineering centers, platforms for technology transfer, and even production facilities. This helps accelerate the path from ideas to industrial implementation and strengthens close cooperation with the sectoral ministries and committees of our country. Happy holidays!

Then the floor was given to the First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Pertsоv:

– Allow me to congratulate you on the holiday, to wish you new victories and at least several more times 105 years of quality to Polytech!

After that, Vladimir Borisovich fulfilled an honorable and responsible mission by reading out the congratulatory address from the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko.

“To the staff of the Belarusian National Technical University. Dear friends, I congratulate you on the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Belarusian National Technical University. Your university, established during the years of Soviet industrialization, has made a significant contribution to the development of domestic industry. Today, the legendary Polytechnic is recognized both in our country and far beyond as a leading scientific and industrial center, preparing highly skilled technical specialists. BNTU graduates build housing and bridges, lay roads and metro lines, create modern machinery, ensuring the modernization and strengthening of the economy of sovereign Belarus and making our people's lives even more comfortable. I am confident that your team will continue to successfully implement advanced methods and technologies, educate and nurture professionals devoted to their Homeland, and enhance the national wealth of the country. I wish everyone good health, happiness, well-being, and new professional achievements for the benefit of our beloved Belarus”.

The Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic on Education, Science, Culture, and Social Development, Sergey Sivets, conveyed congratulations from the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Natalia Kochanova, to the staff of BNTU.

The ceremonial part continued with the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Education, Culture, and Science, Alexander Songin, who read out the congratulations from the Chairman of the House of Representatives, Igor Sergeenko.

For a welcoming speech and the presentation of awards, the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Andrey Ivanets, was invited to the microphone, who thanked the BNTU staff for their meticulous work:

– Allow me, on behalf of myself and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, to sincerely congratulate the entire team: teachers, students, veterans, and scholars who have been working for the benefit of our country for over 100 years. The Belarusian National Technical University has rightfully become a true forge not only of engineering personnel but also of real professionals in their field, devoted to their country. I am confident that the highest recognition for the BNTU staff is the one given by the head of our state. Special words of gratitude to our President for the warm words that were spoken from this stage today.

Andrey Ivanovich awarded the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Sergey Kovshar, the Head of the Department of "Economics and Organization of Energy", Tatyana Mancerova, and the Associate Professor of the Department of "Marketing", Serguei Glouboki, with the badge "Excellence in Education". Certificates of Honor from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus were awarded to:

  • Deputy Rector for Research Ksenia Yakushenka
  • Dean of the Faculty of Energy Evgeniy Ponomarenko
  • Dean of the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Ecology Andrey Kologrivko
  • Dean of International Cooperation Faculty Pavel Shirvel
  • Department head of Information-Measuring Equipment and Technologies Roman Vorobei
  • Department head of Faculty Affairs in the Human Resources Management Anna Zhdanovich
  • Associate Professor of 'Mechanization and Automation of the Road- Building Complex' Mitrofan Garost
  • Senior Lecturer of the Department of 'Robotic Systems' Andrey Derban
  • Senior Lecturer of the Department of 'Engineering Economics' Olga Lavrenova; 
  • Head of the Department of 'Belarusian and Russian Language' Irina Budko
  • Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Natalia Shulyakovskaya;
  • Associate Professor of the Department of 'Information-measuring Equipment and Technology' Andrei Tiavlovskii.

The Chairman of the Supreme Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Guchok, presented honorary certificates of the Supreme Attestation Commission to Professor Uladzimir Ivashechkin of the Department of "Hydrotechnical and energy construction, water transport and hydraulics" and Associate Professor Natalia Riznookaia of the Department of "Information-measuring Equipment and Technologies".

The title of "Honorary Professor of BNTU" was awarded to the Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, Inoh Marjidov, and to the Deputy Hokim of Tashkent, Head of the Department for Family and Women's Affairs, Shakhnaza Sultanova. The title of "Honorary Graduate of BNTU" was awarded to the Advisor to the Chairman of CJSC "Vector Capital Group," Belarusian statesman, Major General Yuri Krivosheev, and the General Director of UP "Agency 'Minsk-News", Andrey Krivosheev.

Afterwards, representatives of various departments were invited to the stage to present certificates. For example, honorary certificates from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection were awarded to:

  • Department head of Water Supply and Sanitation Valeryia Hruzinava
  • Professor of the Department of Mining Machines Nikolay Berezovsky
  • Associate Professor of the Department of Engineering Ecology Hanna Khrypovich
  • Associate Professor of the Department of Engineering Ecology Galina Morzak
  • Associate Professor of the Department of Engineering Ecology Halina Belskaya
  • Senior Lecturer of the Department of Heat and gas supply and ventilation Anatoli Shabelnik.

Department head of Business Administration Elena Bertosh and Head of the Department of Engineering Economics Tatyana Sakhnovich received honorary certificates from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus.

Honorary certificates from the Minsk City Executive Committee were awarded to the Head of the Planning and Economic Department Galina Taratun, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy Alexei Drobysh, and Chief of the Student Campus Vitaly Tsando.

Honorary certificates from the administration of the Sovetsky District of Minsk were awarded to the following were awarded honorary certificates by the administration of the Soviet District of Minsk: 

  • Irina Gud, Head of the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs; 
  • Svetlana Kovel, Department head of the 'Sport'; 
  • Anton Vavilov, Professor of the Department of 'Mechanization and automation of the road-building complex
  • Grigory Basalai, Senior Lecturer of the 'Mining Machines' Department; 
  • Mikhail Bogachuk, Head of the Administrative and Economic Service; 
  • Elena Kuchuk, Head of the Nutrition Center; 
  • Sergey Melnikov, Head of the Repair and Construction Department.

At the conclusion of the solemn award ceremony, the honorary diploma of the Republican Union of Builders was presented to:

  • Professor of the Department of 'Building Materials and Construction Technology' Vyacheslav Babitsky
  • Associate Professor of the Department of 'Building structures named after Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor T.M. PetzoldAnatoly Zhabinsky

  • Associate Professor of the Department of 'Building Materials and Construction Technology' Mohammad Kashiripur
  • Associate Professor of the Department of 'Construction Economics and Real Estate Management' Dmitry Pikus
  • Senior Lecturer of the Department of 'Geotechnics and Structural Mechanics' Vyacheslav Myakota
  • Senior Lecturer of the Department of 'Geotechnics and Structural Mechanics' Leonty Medvedev

The bright festive atmosphere at the event was provided by the creative teams of the BNTU Department of Culture.

After the official conclusion of the ceremonial meeting of the workforce, a festive fireworks display took place on the square in front of the main building of BNTU.

We sincerely congratulate our university on the holiday! May BNTU's 105th anniversary mark the beginning of new victories, bold ideas, and inspiring achievements. May every success strengthen the university's reputation and benefit the Republic of Belarus!
