One of the most pressing scientific and technical areas in the design of modern mining machinery and equipment is the study of pneumatic conveying systems. As part of the "Young Miner" School program at the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering, Grigory Basalai, senior lecturer in the Mining Machinery Department, demonstrated to students from the engineering class of Minsk Secondary School No. 108 (http://sch108.minsk.edu.by/) a basic setup for studying the aerodynamic properties of materials and demonstrated its operating modes. The students learned to determine the dynamic equilibrium of solid particles in an upward flow and examined the operating characteristics of pneumatic cyclones.
The young researchers plan to apply this knowledge to developing new ideas using directed airflow.
The School for Young People (https://bntu.by/faculties/fgde/pages/shkola-yunyh) at the Faculty of Mining is not only an opportunity to touch real engineering science, but also an inspiration for future discoveries.
