On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Minsk celebrated its 958th anniversary. On this day, anyone could have an interesting and fun time, especially if they did it together with the Belarusian National Technical University.
BNTU Professions Festival
As part of the opening of the festival of professions, a procession and laying of flowers at the Victory Monument took place in the morning. The BNTU delegation, headed by Rector Sergey Kharytonchyk, also included Vice-rector for Ideological and Educational Work Timur Matsiushynets, head of the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs Victoria Nevodnichaya, university staff and students from among youth activists.
Directly at the festival site, the rector shared his thoughts on the topic of the Polytechnic University's participation in the event.
– Our university is a traditional participant of the festival of professions, which is just combined with the City Day. All the young people come out: students, pupils and those who still go to kindergarten or are going to go to school. At the festival, we will show our university in all its glory and present our specialties. I think there will be many who are interested in becoming a part of our university, completing their studies at school, in an engineering class, then coming to study with us, getting a good profession and achieving the professional heights in their lives that everyone sets for themselves.
The Belarusian National Technical University was represented by the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering, whose student is Alexander Malashko, Chairman of the BNTU Student Council. He noted the popularity of the interactive platform.
– Today is the City Day in Minsk and the Gorky Park is hosting a festival of professions. I am glad to note that the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering represents the BNTU site. This is very important for us and we would like to draw your attention to the fact that the faculty's site is very popular. All the guys, including children and adults, are interested in guessing rocks and minerals. This also works for career guidance, because we tell future students about where they can go and what their specialties are, – emphasized Alexander Malashko.
Laying flowers at the stele "Minsk is a hero city"
The staff of the Automotive and Tractor Faculty supported the initiative of the BNTU leadership and took part in a flower–laying ceremony at the Minsk - Hero City stele on Pobediteley Avenue to honor the feat of their ancestors. Thus, the holiday became a great opportunity to once again express gratitude to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
Culture and friendship of nations in the Mulyavin Park
With the official start of the celebration of the City Day, interactive platforms located throughout Minsk began their work. The Polytechnic traditionally lit the hearts of the audience in the Mulyavin Square.
Residents and guests of the capital could plunge into the atmosphere of cultures of other countries together with students of the BNTU Faculty of International Cooperation, and try their hand at writing Chinese characters and solving puzzles at the interactive stand of the BNTU Confucius Institute for Science and Technology.
– The Confucius Institute of Science and Technology annually participates in the celebration of the City Day, demonstrating master classes on calligraphy and coloring masks of the Beijing Opera to the residents of Minsk and its guests. Our stand is always very popular. Considering the cooperation between Belarus and China, the study of the Chinese language and Chinese culture is already an integral part of the city's life, – said Vladimir Kleenkov, Director of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology from the Belarusian side.
The festive atmosphere was supported by the creative team of the BNTU Cultural Affairs Department, the Kahanachka Folk Song Ensemble.
Dragonboat Racing
It was possible to plunge into the real atmosphere of teamwork at the republican sports and mass event "Dragonboat Racing", organized among student teams of institutions of higher education.
The program of the event included the grand opening, qualifying, semi-final and final races at a distance of 500 m. The team of the Belarusian National Technical University also took part in the event, reached the final and took the fourth place.
