The new academic year will start very soon, and non‑local students will gain a second home — the dormitory — in addition to their new status. To ensure that check‑in goes as smoothly and without unnecessary difficulties as possible, we have prepared a detailed guide to the check‑in process: from the list of required documents to recommendations on how to pack your belongings for a comfortable stay in the student dormitory.
Check-in to the dormitories will begin on August 26. The dates and times may vary depending on the faculty and the specific dormitory. To avoid missing important dates, be sure to visit the official page of your faculty. There you can find a detailed schedule, sample applications, and contact phone numbers.

To obtain the coveted keys to the room, you will need to prepare a certain package of documents, which includes:
Important! If you are under 18 years of age, the presence of your parents (or legal guardians) is mandatory when signing the accommodation agreement.
When packing your suitcases, it’s important to remember that the rooms in BNTU dormitories are already fully equipped with basic furniture: beds, tables, chairs, wardrobes, and shelves. Nevertheless, to create a truly homey atmosphere, we recommend bringing your own bed linen, blanket, and pillow. Sleeping accessories are provided upon request in the dormitory, but personal belongings are always more comfortable and familiar. Don’t forget about bath accessories: rubber shower slippers, towels, shampoo, and gel.
You also need to think about kitchen accessories. We recommend taking a medium‑sized pot, a frying pan, a couple of plates, mugs, cutlery, a cutting board, and, most importantly, a kettle that is specifically for the stove, not an electric one.
For comfortable studying in the room, a desk lamp will be indispensable — it will protect your eyesight while you prepare for classes and exams, as well as a laptop and an extension cord, which must be equipped with a surge protector.
We strongly advise you to first check whether there is a refrigerator in your room. If there is no refrigerator, we recommend considering the option of buying used equipment or renting it in Minsk: this is often more convenient, cheaper, and easier than transporting your own. A refrigerator is allowed only on the condition that its age does not exceed ten years, and that the technical documentation and the original power cord are in perfect condition.
We also recommend not buying everything at once. For example, cleaning supplies can be purchased together with your new roommates.
BNTU dormitories have living rules that, among other things, address fire safety. Residents are prohibited from using electrical appliances in their living rooms: electric kettles, heaters, irons, immersion heaters, and so on. Each dormitory has specially equipped utility rooms and laundry facilities for ironing clothes and doing laundry.
It is also not advisable to bring homemade extension cords or adapters, or refrigerators without technical documentation or with modified cords, as they will simply be rejected during inspection. There is no need to bring large supplies of food from home: there are supermarkets near the BNTU dormitories, and you can have a tasty and inexpensive lunch in the canteens and buffets at the university itself.
Moving into a dormitory is an important step towards independent adult life, and your comfort during the first months of study will depend on how thoroughly you prepare. We recommend that you familiarize yourself in advance with the internal regulations that apply to each BNTU dormitory and pay close attention to the fire safety requirements. Do not hesitate to seek advice from the dormitory staff and deans’ offices, as they are always ready to help you sort out any issues that arise. We wish you a successful start to the academic year, productive studies, and a pleasant stay in the BNTU dormitories!
