On Monday, September 1, 2025, the Belarusian National Technical University not only celebrated Knowledge Day but also opened several laboratories.
For example, the renovated "Optical Systems" and "Optical-Electronic Devices" laboratories have been operating since the new academic year at the Faculty of Instrument Engineering. BNTU shared the significant workload of opening these research and educational facilities with employees of Peleng JSC.



Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich, General Director of Peleng JSC Pavel Pozdnyakov, Rector of the Church of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky in Minsk, Archpriest Nikolai Korzhich, Candidate of Theology, BNTU Rector Sergei Kharitonchik, and Dean of the Faculty of Instrument Engineering Alexander Svistun were invited to cut the ribbon and open the way for students to acquire practical skills.

Sergey Kharitonchik highlighted the new opportunity for training using cutting-edge technology:
– Today we are opening a key laboratory for the university. Modern optical technologies represent the pinnacle of scientific and technological advancement. We owe this opening to representatives of Peleng JSC. The collaboration between BNTU and the company is aimed at the development of our country. The students who will study in these laboratories will not only theoretically learn the fundamentals of instrument operation but also fully understand their design. I am familiar with many universities around the world, and, frankly, these technologies are among the most advanced in the world. If you tap into them, you will definitely find employment in the coming decades.

The most important asset for the company and the country as a whole is people. These were the words of Pavel Pozdnyakov at the opening.
– Dear students, there's nothing more valuable in life than people. It's the same in business – they're just called 'personnel' or 'specialists.' These are the people who are capable of creating new things and achieving unique results. Opening these laboratories is a reasonable investment in the future: not only in the number of students graduating from the instrument-making faculty, but also in the quality of training for specialists who will possess relevant knowledge and become part of the country's economy. They will develop not only optical instrument-making but also other professions at the forefront of technological progress. By using the laboratories and solving modern problems, you will begin your internship as fully-fledged specialists as early as your second or third year, – emphasized the CEO of “Peleng”.

Alexander Svistun joined the CEO's remarks:
– This is a historic moment for our faculty. I sincerely thank the people who worked on this project every day. Today, we are opening world-class laboratories, thanks in large part to Peleng, a leader in optoelectronic instrumentation. Thanks to these laboratories, we will provide students with reliable, cutting-edge knowledge.
The updated optical measurement laboratories will allow us to conduct not only academic classes but also research for master's and doctoral students, as well as researchers.

Furthermore, on Monday, the country's leading technical university opened another facility for practical training of future specialists. In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Belarus, a classroom (laboratory) for training in unmanned aerial vehicle control has been operational at BNTU since September 1, 2025.

The class was created with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus as part of the targeted courses educational program funded by the national budget.

The historic ribbon-cutting and official opening of the classroom was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich, Archpriest Nikolai Korzhich, rector of the Church of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky in Minsk, candidate of theology, BNTU Rector Sergei Kharitonchik, and Andrei Pochebyt, head of the Military-Technical Faculty.
– Unmanned aerial vehicle technologies are developing rapidly today. The classroom project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defense. This is a great example of two agencies joining forces and proposing to create a laboratory so that our students can gain exposure to modern educational areas to better prepare them for their future careers. I believe that classes in the new laboratories and classrooms will encourage our students and cadets to engage even more in scientific and design activities, – noted Sergey Kharitonchik.


The new classroom will be used to provide theoretical and practical training for BNTU students and cadets in unmanned aerial vehicle control, as well as to conduct research.
