Today, 10 April, the Belarusian National Technical University hosted a festival of national cultures. The festival gathered representatives from Europe, Asia and Africa.
For reference: the festival is organised annually by the Faculty of International Cooperation and the Department of Cultural Affairs of BNTU. The event is a platform where Belarusian and foreign students get acquainted with each other's cultures and demonstrate the traditions of their countries.
Before the concert, an exhibition reflecting the cultures of the countries was organised in the foyer of the assembly hall of Building 11a. National costumes, household items, musical instruments, creative works of foreign students and even delicacies of national cuisines were presented as exhibits.
The brightest event of the celebration was a festive concert, which started with a video with the participation of international students of BNTU. Young people spoke warm words about peace and friendship between nations.
Touched by what they heard, the audience continued to enjoy the variety of creative numbers of the day. Thus, the concert programme was opened by the folk song ensemble ‘Kahanachka’. The artists performed a welcome song in the Belarusian language, thus inviting everyone to watch the prepared creative numbers.
Afterwards, the room moved to a more mountainous area - Turkmenistan. Samir Dimitriyev spoke about this country in his poem. The young man was supported by his countrymen, performing the national Turkmen dance Kushtdepdi. The team demonstrated the real beauty of the country of saxauls and Akhalteke.
The journey across the Eurasian continent continued, but this time the artists offered the audience to be a little further east - in China. Chen Shengtsun, a teacher of the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology BNTU, pleased the audience with his violin performance. The young man masterfully played the notes of the Celestial Empire. Chinese motifs were continued by Wang Yuan in the song ‘Blossoming Flowers’.
Peter Dobchinsky brought the audience back to the Turkic culture with his lyrical recitation of a poem in Kazakh. After that, Polina Khokhlova impressed with the beauty of Kazakh dance. The bright image in national costume attracted the eyes of the whole audience.
The next creative number sent the audience to South Africa. The representative of Zimbabwe Chimuka Kuzivakwashe Wongai amazed everyone with her excellent command of the Russian language, singing a song in it. Other Zimbabweans also demonstrated their talent: Michinguri Darryl Nyasha and Mafuta Blessing Nyasha played national musical instruments, and Izebeafe-Abache Treje Anurim from Nigeria enthusiastically performed the saxophone part.
The rich culture of China was also revealed in the opera. Beautiful high notes were demonstrated by Sun Qi, earning a standing ovation. A romantic performance was given to the audience by Wang Zhan with the song ‘I miss you’.
A series of stage arts of Turkmenistan followed. Merjen Chariyeva recited a poem ‘Mama’ in her native language, Guljemal Sapargeldiyeva showed Turkmen dance traditions, and Gulnabat Didarova sang a patriotic composition ‘Turkmenistan’. The girls' performances, imbued with respect for national traditions, evoked a deep response in the hearts of the audience.
Performers of the People's Choral Chapel of the UDC BNTU were able to join foreign cultures. Masters of their craft, they performed a song in Chinese. The performance became a symbol of international cooperation and respect for other cultures.
The concert programme continued with an Uzbek dance performed by Sultanpashsha Vansova. The girl's bright and smooth movements were supported by many in the audience. Amir Saratbekov sang to the audience about the culture of Tajikistan. The final creative number was the performance of the Druzhba dance ensemble. The artists spun in a whirlwind of incendiary rhythms.
At the end of the concert, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work Timur Matyushinets took the stage. He thanked the speakers for their exciting performances and gave them prizes. Thus, all participants were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts from the organisers.
A loud final chord of the festival was the song ‘Together’ performed by soloists of the vocal and variety studio ‘Loving Soul’.
