Today, on June 3, the BNTU hosted the dialogue platform "Prevention of offenses among young people."
The students met with Natalia Pylinskaya, Deputy head of the IDN of the Public Security Police of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Sovetsky District Administration of Minsk, police Major Andrei Prikhodko, head of the Department of Social, pedagogical and psychological services of the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the BNTU, to discuss the main rules of legal security.
Andrey Olegovich paid special attention to the protection of the rights of minors during procedural actions, which, according to the law, cannot take place without the presence of adults or representatives of the university. The speaker explained that from the moment of the teenager's detention, his legal representative must be notified immediately. When giving evidence, nonresident students are advised to read the prepared documents very carefully or write explanations in their own hand. If the parents are in another city, it is best to contact a representative of the educational institution.
The police major also analyzed the situation with vacations in companies – when drinking alcohol in a public place, law enforcement officers will have questions for everyone present, and an adult friend who bought alcohol will be held accountable. This also applies to fast food establishments where the purchase of alcohol is allowed for adults. A teenager in such a situation is not a person who has committed an offense, but the police have every right to carry out preventive work with those minors who have been noticed using alcohol.
Separately, the speaker focused on telephone scammers who pose as police or bank employees to create the effect of haste and panic. It is important to remember that real law enforcement officers do not call minors directly. The rush is created intentionally so that the victim does not have time to realize that illegal actions are being committed against her. In such cases, you need to interrupt the conversation and ask the caller to contact you through the official channels of the university. The same principle also works to protect the elderly, as intruders act like subtle psychologists and do not provide an opportunity to react quickly.
Also, during the conversation, the children were reminded of the strict responsibility for the dissemination of extremist materials and Nazi symbols. An important addition was the topic of drug addiction – the participants were explained the legal consequences for both the distribution and use of narcotic drugs.
Legal literacy is the main protection tool for every student, and such direct dialogues with representatives of the law help to clearly understand the algorithm of actions in any non–standard situation.
