The finals of the Mr. BNTU — 2026 contest are getting closer, and the tension of the contestants is growing every day. Students are wondering who will get the coveted title, and the applicants are preparing numbers that can surprise even a sophisticated jury. Roman Soroko, a second—year student at the Faculty of Engineering and Education, is among those who intend to fight to the end. He explained what helps him stay calm, what is the main highlight of his performance and how engineering thinking overcomes creative chaos.
Reflecting on which three words characterize Roman as a person, he named those qualities that really define his daily life.:
— Caring, because every person who is dear to me knows that I take care of my family and friends. Calmness, because I spend more time in my life calm and reasonable, it gives me the opportunity not to react so emotionally to difficult situations. Responsibility, because I am ready to take responsibility in unusual situations.
A special place in his heart is occupied by home and family. Talking about his perfect morning, Roman admitted that happiness for him is to wake up without feeling tired in his hometown, not to rush to couples and feel the warmth of the family hearth. He added that the breakfast prepared by his mother and the atmosphere of carefree, as in childhood, give him the same feeling of absolute comfort and peace.
Dancing allows the finalist to lose track of time, because it allows him to feel the way he is.
— Dancing is a hobby that allows me to relax and not notice the time. Dancing draws me in, because it's a way to feel the way you are without any limits.
— What skill would you borrow from any other person and why?
— I would like to perform various tricks with my body. I chose this skill because, looking at people who can do it, the thought always arises that it would be nice for me to have such an ability to use it in dance.
Roman also shared that in his youth he loved listening to music, and now, as he got older, he realized that music was his constant source of inspiration. In addition, ice cream helps a young man to distract himself from tasks and difficulties.
— Ice cream can be my little joy, which is guaranteed to cheer me up, because it reminds me of my childhood, where it was always good.
Roman is most proud of the fact that he managed to save up for a trip to a dance camp on his own.
— I am proud that I have saved up for a trip to a dance camp on my own. This allowed me, regardless of my parents' financial situation at the time, to go where I really wanted to go. .
As for failures, the finalist philosophically remarked that he doesn't have a single high-profile failure story. He said that each of his losses at competitions becomes only fuel and an incentive to work harder, better and better, without losing hope.
— The most valuable advice that I received, and which really helped me succeed in an important business, despite the failures, is: "Don't listen to anyone, do what you want, and whether it works or not, that's another problem."
The young man dreams of a future where he can live in prosperity, do what he loves and live his best life, emphasizing that for this he needs to try now.
— Which is more difficult: to learn five exam tickets per night or to set a number by coordinating the light, sound and costumes?
— It's more difficult to set up a room, because it's not just one night, but a lot of effort and time, but it's all worth it. But after the performance has taken place, you get pleasure, pleasure from the positive words of the viewer, and this is more valuable than a mark in the score.
— What do you consider the most memorable thing about your number? And how did you come up with that?
— I think the most memorable thing about my room is the very concept of the room, as far as I know, there has never been such a thing in BNTU. I came up with this idea when I was listening to a song that I put a number to while driving home after training. Usually, a good workout ignites new ideas in me. I think this number will surprise the audience, as it will be unexpected to see a worthy creative act from an engineering student.
It is important for the finalist to receive sincere emotions from people in the "Mr. BNTU" contest.
— I will understand that I have become a real "Mr. BNTU" by the sincere emotions and words of people. I don't care about the title so much as I want to get the most out of the audience and prove to myself that it wasn't a waste of time and that my work will resonate with people.
Roman Soroko is an excellent example of a harmonious fusion of engineering discipline and creative courage. While some are preparing for exams, he calculates every second of the rehearsal, while others are in doubt, he puts a number that the BNTU has not yet seen.
