BNTU students are among the top three strongest controller programmers in Russia.

Студенты БНТУ в тройке сильнейших программистов-контроллеров России

From March 17 to 20, 2026, the All-Russian Student Olympiad "Controller Programming" was held at Volga Region State University. Of the 18 teams registered in the preliminary round, 11 teams from various regions of the Russian Federation participated in the Olympiad, along with a team from the Belarusian National Technical University, consisting of students from group 11301124, Anton Dyba and Ilya Zhadko (fourth-year instrument-making students). The students were prepared for this challenging challenge by their experienced mentor, Associate Professor of the Department of Information and Measurement Equipment and Technology Alexander Isaev, who accompanied and supported the team throughout all stages of the competition.

The Olympiad task was to build a robot and create a program to perform spatial navigation tasks: following a given route, avoiding obstacles, finding a way out of a maze, and so on. The atmosphere on the field was truly competitive: each team strove to demonstrate maximum precision and speed in their operations, while the panel of judges closely monitored the accuracy of their work.

Based on their performance, the BNTU team took third place, displacing several strong teams that had previously won prizes in similar competitions. This success once again proves that the BNTU School of Engineering, and in particular the Instrumentation Faculty, trains specialists capable of competing on equal terms with the best student teams from Russia's largest technical universities.

The bronze award was the result not only of intensive training at their alma mater but also of the students' personal passion for modern information technology.

It's worth noting that participating in such competitions provides students with invaluable experience working under tight deadlines and the need to make rapid technical decisions, which will certainly prove useful in future work at leading enterprises.
