The history of the Belarusian National Technical University is inextricably linked with achievements in science, culture and education. The week from March 2 to March 8 was no exception. Over the years, these days at the university were filled with memorable events that influenced the further development of the university.
March, 2
On the initiative of the university's Rector's Office, with the support of the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Faculty of International Cooperation, the first festival of national cultures was held at BNTU on March 2, 2022. At the first festival, as well as at subsequent ones, foreign students from China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, and African countries performed on stage with prepared performances.
The event allows foreign students to introduce their countries, their customs, as well as get acquainted with the culture and peculiarities of other countries. During the concert, the audience enjoys emotional songs, vibrant folk dances and sensual playing of musical instruments. Traditionally, at the end of the celebration, the artists are presented with prizes and memorable gifts, but the main reward for everyone remains stormy applause. The festival of National Cultures transforms the university stage into a space without borders, where friendship of peoples flourishes, and the language of art is understandable to everyone.
March, 6
In 2024, on March 6, the head of the Department of Materials Science in Mechanical Engineering, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Valery Konstantinov was awarded the title of "Best Expert of the Year". To determine the winners, the State Committee on Science and Technology analyzed and evaluated the work of 850 experts in 2023, who completed the preparation of 2,345 expert opinions. By the decision of the commission, three representatives of Belarusian universities were awarded, including Valery Mikhailovich.
The victory in the large-scale and competitive selection was a testament to the hard work of the professor and the impeccable quality of his work. The event confirmed that BNTU scientists play an important role in the development of the state scientific expertise system.
March, 7
The date of March 7, 1957 is considered to be the day of the establishment of the BNTU Research and Testing Laboratory for vehicles. Then, by order of the Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR, the Problematic Automobile Research Laboratory (PNL) was created. The birth of this laboratory was no coincidence. The widespread development of the automotive industry in the USSR required an increase in the number of qualified personnel engaged in research work in the field of automotive engineering, and by that time the Faculty of Automotive Engineering already had a scientific base.
From the very beginning of its existence, the laboratory's scientists have been offering progressive solutions for the development of the automotive and mechanical engineering industry in Belarus. Thus, a draft type of trucks, tractors and diesel locomotives was proposed, and a number of standards were developed for calculating car transmissions on computers that were used in automobile and tractor plants (MAZ, BelAZ, MTZ, etc.). In September 2005, PNILA was reorganized into the Scientific Research Testing Laboratory of Vehicles (NIIL TS).
Today, laboratory scientists are engaged in the certification of cars, spare parts and components, management systems at enterprises of the automotive and machine-building industries, methodological support for the development of documentation and implementation of quality systems, professional development of employees in the field of product quality management, testing of vehicles.
The chronicle of BNTU events demonstrates the path of continuous progress and achievements. The inextricable link between experience, youth and striving for new heights allows the university to look into the past with pride and build the future with confidence.
