A delegation from the United Republic of Tanzania visited the Belarusian National Technical University on August 7.
The delegation included the Minister of Education, Science and Technology of the United Republic of Tanzania, Professor Adolf Mkenda, Personal Assistant to the Minister of Rwayamu Kamayugi Augustine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation Fredrik Ibrahim Kibuta, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Professor Stephen Oswald Maluka, Deputy Rector of the Muhimbili University of Health and Related Sciences Emmanuel Cornelius Balandya and Chairman of the Advisory The Board of the Samia Scholarship Program, Professor Yunus Daud Mgaya.
The foreign delegation was met by the Rector of BNTU Sergey Kharitonchik, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Yuri Nikolaichik and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation Nikolai Vishnyakov.
The reception program included a visit to the Digital Engineering Competence Center and the exhibition exposition of the BNTU Polytechnic Science and Technology Park. At the competence center, the Tanzanian delegation got acquainted with modern digital design tools. The guests were shown automated modeling systems, additive installations for 3D printing with metal and polymer composites.
Of particular interest was the guided tour of the exhibition at the Polytechnic Scientific and Technical University. Georgy Vershina, General Director of the technopark, showed the guests advanced developments, including innovative solutions in the field of high-tech production of medical devices, including hip arthroplasty, products used in cardiology, traumatology and neurosurgery.
The meeting continued with negotiations, during which the parties discussed in detail a range of issues that determine the further development of a mutually beneficial partnership. The priority topics included the organization of joint research and educational projects, the expansion of academic mobility, as well as the possibility of admitting Tanzanian students to BNTU under the Samia scholarship program.
We thank the representatives of the United Republic of Tanzania for their visit. We are confident that the meeting will become a reliable basis for long-term and fruitful cooperation between Belarus and Tanzania in the field of higher education and scientific research.
