Getting lost at the Polytechnic: Getting to know the campus

Не потеряться в Политехе: знакомим с кампусом

The campus of the Belarusian National Technical University can rightfully be called a city within a city. To help students adapt to their new life more quickly, we're giving you an overview of the university from A (classrooms) to Z (bookcrossing boxes).

For reference: BNTU comprises 20 academic buildings, 15 dormitories, a food service center, a sports complex, a sanatorium, a stadium, and over 30 cafeterias and food outlets.

One of the main advantages of the Polytechnic University is its location. BNTU's main buildings are located in the very center of the city along Nezavisimosti Avenue. The Academy of Sciences metro station is a three-minute walk away, and the Central Department Store is a five-minute walk in the opposite direction. This means getting to the university is easy.

Academic buildings

The Belarusian National Technical University has 20 academic buildings, and classes are held in different ones, regardless of faculty. Their main advantage is their location. Walking from one building to another takes no more than five minutes, as they are all located on the BNTU campus. The exceptions are buildings 15, 16, and 20, which are located in  Pervomaysky District, near  Borisovsky Trakt metro station.

Every student is familiar with the main building of BNTU (Building No. 1) – it was here, at 65 Nezavisimosti Avenue, that they submitted their enrollment documents. The main building houses not only classrooms but also the university administration – the Rector's Office. If you have any questions about scholarships, financial aid, or tuition, this is the place to go. BNTU's accounting office is also located in Building No. 1 (second floor). Another distinguishing feature from other buildings is the presence of several conference rooms, an assembly hall, and auditoriums for official events, meetings, and dialogue platforms.

Building No. 13 is the center of student life and initiative. It is home to the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs, the BNTU Student Council, the Belarusian Republican Youth Union  with the rights of the BNTU Regional Committee and the BNTU Primary Student Trade Union.

The dean's offices are located in various academic buildings. For example, the dean's office of the Automobile and Tractor Engineering Faculty is located in Building No. 8. More detailed information about the locations of all deans' offices can be found at the link.

Dormitories

The Belarusian National Technical University guarantees 100% dormitory accommodation for out-of-town first-year students during their first semester. The campus comprises 15 dormitories located in the Sovetsky, Pervomaysky, and Moskovsky districts of Minsk. All are either within walking distance of the academic buildings or near the Petrovshchina, Borisovsky Trakt, and Academy of Sciences metro stations.

The exact location of dormitories of the  faculties and their types are presented in the table below.
