From May 15 to 16, 2025, the National Library of Belarus hosted the international scientific and technical conference "Water. Gas. Heat - 2025". Within the framework of the event, the Belarusian National Technical University was positioned as a platform for the integration of scientific views and production experience in priority areas of development of the national economy, science and education.

For reference: representatives of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Architecture and Construction of the Republic of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, as well as Belarusian, Russian, Hungarian, Turkmen, Uzbek universities and enterprises took part in the conference.

The Organizing Committee of the conference was represented by Sergey Kharytonchyk, Rector of BNTU (Chairman), Dmitry Livansky, Dean of the Faculty of Energy Construction (Co-Chairman), Yulia Savchenko, (Secretary), 1st category Engineer of the Department of Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation, as well as the teaching staff of the university departments.

The opening of the conference took place yesterday, May 15. The welcoming speech was given by Deputy Rector for Research of BNTU Ksenia Yakushenko and Deputy Minister of Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Romashko.

The first day included the work of the plenary session of the scientific and innovative direction. Representatives of science and industry made presentations on current topics. The presentations touched upon the development of the water supply and sewerage industry in modern conditions, the knowledge base of the drainage system of the residential area, jet technologies in mechanical engineering, etc.

The first plenary session was followed by the second plenary session of the practice-oriented direction. The speakers presented information on digital twins of gas valves, the practice of using stormwater treatment facilities, and the use of membrane bioreactors for cleaning domestic wastewater.

At the end of the event, those present summed up the results of the first day of the conference, noting the importance of exchanging knowledge and experience between scientific and practical specialists.

Today, the conference program continued with the work of a number of sections at the BNTU Center for Technical Hydromechanics and Hydraulic Machines. The sections were organized in the following areas:

  • "Heat and gas supply, ventilation and air protection";
  • "Water supply, sanitation, purification of natural and waste water";
  • "Innovative technologies in hydraulic engineering, energy construction and water transport";
  • "Innovative technologies in the development of natural sciences and modern education";
  • "Linguodidactic provision  for technical education".

Each section also presented abstracts on various topics of science and technical education. They included the use of thermal energy storage devices in centralized heating systems, analysis of the use of municipal wastewater, the development of melioration and hydraulic engineering construction in Belarus, thermal treatment of silkworm cocoons using solar energy, and the formation of environmental competence in engineering students in the process of teaching English.

At the end of the sessions, the participants exchanged views and identified areas for further cooperation. The conference became a platform for discussing important issues in the fields of heat, water and energy supply, environmental protection, technical sciences and vocational education.
