For 2025, scholarships of the President of the Republic of Belarus have been awarded to 49 postgraduate students conducting dissertation research in educational institutions and scientific organizations in the field of technical, medical, chemical, economic, pedagogical and other sciences on topics that are relevant and in demand for the relevant industries. These scholarships are provided for by the order signed on January 10, 2025 by the head of state Alexander Lukashenko.
For reference: the payments are intended to stimulate the attraction and retention of young researchers in the field of science, to support their creative initiative, the development of domestic scientific schools, and the training of highly qualified scientists. These events are an important contribution to the future of Belarusian science and the economy.
Among the scholarship recipients are six postgraduate students from the Belarusian National Technical University:
- Savely Kivachuk (Department of Urban Planning, Faculty of Architecture) – for the scientific assessment of architectural and urban development objects of Belarus in the interwar period of the 1920s–1930s and the substantiation of their significance for the history of the Belarusian state, as well as for the development of provisions for giving such objects the status of historical and cultural value, which will help preserve the authenticity of national architecture;
- Andrey Lazarchuk (Department of Laser Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Instrument Engineering) – for the development of new active media based on oxyorthosilicate crystals with ytterbium ions, which helps improve modern diode-pumped near-infrared laser systems for use in optical-electronic instrument making;
- Evgeny Mikhasik (Department of Technology and Teaching Methods, Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy) – for developing a new mathematical model of the sintering process of dispersed refractory non-metallic materials using the percolation method, which allows for more accurate calculation of the strength and permeability indicators of filter elements made of chopped refractory E-glass fiber and finely dispersed silicon oxide powders used in air purification units;
- Maria Myadelets-Avlas (Department of Architecture of Industrial Facilities and Architectural Designs, Faculty of Architecture) – for identifying the principles and directions of spatial reorganization of industrial sites in the modern socio-economic conditions of Belarus, certification of Soviet-era production facilities in the cities of Minsk, Brest and Vitebsk, which will contribute to the preservation and efficient use of their industrial potential, as well as the dynamic development of the living environment in the cities of Belarus;
- Andrey Rudnitskiy (Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering) – for the development of a method for producing wear-resistant coatings from self-fluxing alloys by thermal spraying followed by high-frequency current melting in the liquid state quenching mode, which increases the productivity of the melting process while simultaneously improving the physical, mechanical and operational characteristics of the resulting coatings;
- Artem Rulenkov (Department of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Alloy Metallurgy, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Technology) – for the development of processes for recycling aluminum foundry slags to obtain dispersed materials based on the Al2O3-Al system, ensuring import substitution and reducing the cost of composite metal-ceramic powders used to obtain protective coatings using high-energy surface treatment methods.
Congratulations to the graduate students on receiving presidential scholarships and wish them further scientific achievements and victories!
