Cinema should tell stories. The results of the interuniversity contest “VideoRadius BNTU - 2024” are summarized

Yesterday, November 28, 2024, in the assembly hall of the 11a building of the Belarusian National Technical University took place the awarding ceremony of the participants and winners of the XVIII Interuniversity Student Film Contest “VideoRadius BNTU - 2024”.

In total, more than 80 videos from 17 universities of the Republic of Belarus were sent for participation. Among them:

  • Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus (Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus);
  • Baranovichi State University (BarSU);
  • Belarusian State Agricultural Academy (BSAA);
  • Belarusian State University (BSU);
  • Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR);
  • Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts (BSUKI);
  • Belarusian State University of Economics (BSEU);
  • Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU);
  • Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov (VSU named after P.I. Masherov);
  • Grodno State Medical University (GrSMU);
  • Yanka Kupala State University (Yanka Kupala State University);
  • Institute of Modern Knowledge named after A. M. Shirokov (Institute of Modern Knowledge named after A. M. Shirokov). 
  • International University “MITSO”;
  • Minsk State Linguistic University (MSLU);
  • Mozyr State Pedagogical University named after I. P. Shamyakin. (MGPU);
  • Polotska State University (Euphrosyne Polotska State University);
  • University of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus (UGZ of the Ministry of Emergency Situations)

To determine the best films, the jury members had to make difficult decisions. Maksim Maksimov, director, producer, scriptwriter, Piotr Krivostanenko, film director, associate professor of the Department of Cinematography of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Irina Narbekova, leading stage master, theater and cinema actress, Honored Artist of Belarus, “sealed the fate” of young directors and cameramen.


Natalia Penyaz, Head of the Department of Cultural Affairs of BNTU, made a welcoming speech from the organizing committee at the awarding ceremony.

-This year our contest is being supported at the highest level: a grant of the President of the Republic of Belarus has been granted for its development. We were able to improve the technical equipment of the contest, as well as to form a worthy prize fund. Watching the films together with the jury members, I felt proud of the smart and talented student youth of Belarus. I wish you all further success, and let our contest become only the first step in your creative realization.

Then Natalia Andreyevna handed out souvenirs and diplomas to the participants of the contest. The jury members awarded the winners in special nominations:

  • “Relevance of the chosen topic” - the movie “Talk show ‘Stereotypes’” (Yanka Kupala GrSU);
  • “Classics in the lens of students” - film “Ordinary People” (Elizaveta Spodobaeva, Faculty of Management Technologies and Humanitarianization BNTU);
  • “Student Video Premiere” - film “Homeland”, (Dmitry Fedosevich, Engineering and Pedagogical Faculty of BNTU), film “Death is not an excuse” (Alisa Pankovskaya, A. I. Shirokov ISP);
  • “Man and Time” - the movie “Our Heroes - Cosmonauts” (Ivan Mendelev, BSUIR), the movie “Viktor Vinogradov is 90 years old!” (Anna Semenchenko, P.M. Masherov VSU);
  • “Best camerawork” - the movie “Kulon” (Daniil Rulkevich, BSU);
  • “Best editing” - video “BNTU Digest” (BNTU Media Center);
  • “For humor and charm in the frame” - Arina Kolesova (Faculty of Marketing, Management, Entrepreneurship BNTU);
  • “Victory lives in the heart of each of us” - video “Echo of War” (Student Council BNTU), a series of reports dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory (VSU named after P.M. Masherov);
  • “Best male role” - Pavel Taraimovich (BSU);
  • “Best feature film” - the movie “What are you doing?” (Vladislav Taberko, Faculty of Energy Construction BNTU);
  • “Best video clip” - the movie “Shukala” (Valeria Kolodina, A.M. Shirokov ISP);
  • “Best Animated Film” - film “Flight” (Alexander Selivonik, A.M. Shirokov IPS);
  • “The best social film” - video “FGDE for a healthy lifestyle” (Alexander Malashko, Faculty of Mining and Engineering Ecology BNTU);
  • Vivat, Alma mater! - film “PSU in focus: a look from inside” (Andrey Strelchik, PSU named after Euphrosyne Polotskaya);
  • “Best reportage” - the film “30th graduation of the University of Civil Defense” (Mikhail Vaskevich, UGZ of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus);
  • “Best Video Essay” - the movie “Soul of the People” (Ivan Mendelev, BSUIR);
  • “Best Promo” - video “Talents” (Mark Zhdanovich, Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus);
  • “Best Documentary” - the movie “Remembering History! Building the Future!” (Maxim Kuts, BGSKhA).

Valentina Bogatyreva, rector of the P.M. Masherov VSU, was awarded a special certificate of the jury “For personal contribution to the civic and patriotic education of young people”.

Of all the films submitted to the competition, 23 were selected for online audience voting, in which the film “Shukala” by Valeria Kolodina (A. M. Shirokov ISP) won. Along with the audience voting, the winner in the nomination “The Best Film through the Eyes of the Participants” was also determined, which was the film “Talents” by Mark Zhdanov (Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus).

After the demonstration of the best films of the contest, the awarding of the absolute winners took place. Thus, the laureate diploma of ІІІ degree was awarded to the film “It is important that we are together” by Pavel Loiko, Yaroslav Bazhko and Yegor Petukh (FGD&E BNTU).

The II degree laureate diploma was awarded to the films “In Search of Soulful Chynin” by Elisey Pih (Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus) and “Illusion of Deception” by Stanislava Fomina (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering BNTU).

The film “Ola - Khatyn's Sister” by Elizaveta Khulup (instrument engineering faculty of BNTU) received the diploma of the laureate of the l degree.

Grand Prix winner of the interuniversity competition of student films “VideoRadius BNTU - 2024” was the film “Remembering History! Building the future!” Maxim Kuts (BGSKhA). The winner was awarded the main prize - a laptop.
