Yesterday, on May 15, 2024, the 17th Azerbaijan International Exhibition "Agriculture" - Caspian Agro – 2024 opened in Baku (The Republic of Azerbaijan).
Caspian Agro is an effective tool that has proven itself in the market for the introduction of advanced technologies into the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the exchange of experience, and the strengthening of mutually beneficial business ties between local and foreign farmers. The exhibition brings together the main players of the agricultural industry, local and foreign specialists, as well as an audience of thousands of professional visitors, including importers, exporters, distributors, representatives of wholesale and retail trade, farmers.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Majnun Mammadov noted that the country supports the introduction of innovations in all spheres at the state level and the widespread use of innovative technologies.
It should also be noted that the guest of honor of the exhibition was President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

The 29th Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition InterFood Azerbaijan is being held simultaneously with Caspian Agro. Both exhibitions bring together about 500 companies from 38 countries, which shows a 10 percent increase in scale compared to last year. In general, along with Azerbaijan, the following countries are represented at exhibitions by their companies: America, Afghanistan, Belarus, Belgium, Venezuela, Germany, Greece, Georgia, Egypt, Israel, India, Indonesia, Iran, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Latvia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Sweden, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Finland, France, Czech Republic. The national groups of Germany, Belarus, Georgia, the Czech Republic, Afghanistan, Italy, the Netherlands, Korea, Poland, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan are represented by agricultural and food industry products.

For reference: Azerbaijan is an industrial and agrarian state with a developed industry and diversified agriculture. The most important place in the economy of Azerbaijan is occupied by oil and gas production, oil refining, chemical (mineral fertilizers, synthetic rubber, automobile tires, etc.), machine-building and mining (extraction of iron ore and alunite) industries , non-ferrous metallurgy, etc. According to the results of 2023, the nominal GDP of Azerbaijan amounted to 123 billion manats (about 73 million US dollars), the real growth of the economy is estimated at 1.1%. In the structure of GDP, industry accounted for 40.5%, trade and repair of vehicles – 10%, transport and warehousing – 6.2%, agriculture and forestry, fish farming – 5.5%, construction – 6.2%, tourist accommodation and catering – 2.2%, information and communications – 1.7%, other sectors – 18.6%.
Azerbaijan's economy is heavily dependent on the hydrocarbon sector, with oil and gas accounting for 90% of exports and about 50% of GDP.
Azerbaijan supplies other countries with products from the chemical and fuel industries, non-ferrous and ferrous metallurgy, mechanical engineering and metalworking (mobile drilling rigs, lifting units, mobile towers, fountain fittings, deep pumps, electric motors, geophysical devices), light industry, etc. Mainly finished products are imported to Azerbaijan from other countries: machine tools, various agricultural machines, cars, clothing, food products.
The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus presents about 30 innovative developments at the exhibition. Thus, the collective stand of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, organized by the Belarusian National Technical University, presents innovative developments of BNTU (including the BNTU Polytechnic Science and Technology Park), Belarusian State University, Brest State Technical University.
