In the new material of the section "BNTU – choice of the best", we get acquainted with Gleb Minkevich, a first-year student of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, who entered Belarusian National Technical University on the terms of targeted training.
Already in the 9th grade, the young man thought about his future in relation to his place of work, deciding to enroll on the terms of targeted training.
– Why did you make such a choice?
– As a person who loves stability and does not like to take risks, it was important for me to decide on the place of future work even before admission. That is why targeted training allowed me to plan my career in advance.
Gleb also did not think long about which university to apply to. He immediately liked the huge number of BNTU specialties and the opportunity to get a promising engineering profession.
– Since childhood, I have been interested in technical disciplines. With such hobbies, BNTU is the best choice for higher education. It was more difficult to decide on a specialty. I spent a lot of time reading their descriptions on the BNTU website. After some time of searching, I came across the specialty "automation of technological processes and productions. Computer mechatronics", which, in my opinion, is in great demand today.
When he visited BNTU for the first time, Gleb was very impressed by its scale and atmosphere, and at the beginning of the school year he was finally convinced that the Polytechnic was exactly the place where he dreamed of being when he was thinking about his student life at the school desk.
– What were the first months of your studies at the university like for you?
– At first, it was unusual for me to be in large audiences, among a huge number of people. However, I soon found many friends and began to actively express myself in the student life of the faculty. Now, however, I am more focused on my studies, because I want to become a professional in the engineering field.
Among all the disciplines in the schedule, Gleb highlights computer science and computer graphics. The student explains his choice of favorite subjects as follows:
– I like working at a computer, and I don't feel tired when I deal with application programs. I like to use new technologies, to be at ease with gadgets. That is why I am completely satisfied with the educational process: it allows me to develop in the field that I consider the most interesting and modern.
According to Gleb, in addition to interest, a real student should have perseverance, be sociable and even a little bit cunning.
– The trick of the student is that he can find non-standard approaches to solving problems and quickly adapt to a spontaneously arisen situation.
– Why do you think BNTU is an excellent choice for higher education?
– I will name five main reasons for admission to BNTU: a huge number of interesting technical specialties, experienced teachers who can teach a lot and give valuable advice, cozy dormitories, the prospect of finding a good job after graduation, the prestige and value of university graduates not only in Belarusian, but also in foreign enterprises and companies.
