Changes to the Admission Rules

The President of the Republic of Belarus has signed a Decree that adjusts  the Rules of admission of persons for higher and secondary special education.

The decree provides for the following changes:

  • change in registration deadlines for centralized testing (CT) - from April 9 to April 22;
  • conducting a centralized exam (CE) and CT on the same dates for all graduates of the current and previous years: May 27 (CE and CT in a subject of the applicant’s choice), May 30 (CE and CT in the Belarusian or Russian language); June 3 (CT in a subject of the applicant’s choice);
  • the possibility of admission without entrance examinations for persons with a gold (silver) medal or a diploma of special secondary or vocational education with honors to regional institutions of higher education (with the exception of specialties of the education profile “Healthcare”, specialties “International Relations”, “International Law”, “Jurisprudence”, “Economic Law", "Public Administration and Law", "Oriental Studies", as well as specialties whose core test disciplines are "Creativity", "Physical Education and Sports"). To institutions of higher education located in Minsk – for the specialties which are most in demand by the economy;
  • increasing the status of applicants-graduates of the National Children's Technopark and expanding the list of specialties for admission without entrance tests;
  • expanding opportunities for admission to special higher education institutions for graduates of specialized military-patriotic classes and military-patriotic clubs;
  • introduction for target-oriented applicants of a lower threshold of an average certificate score of no lower than 7.0 (with the exception of the specialties most in demand by the economy);
  • the possibility of admission of applicants on the terms of targeted training by competition among individual organizations that order personnel, if the competition in the specialty as a whole did not take place;
  • the possibility of admission of applicants on a general basis with the establishment of a quota for them of at least 20% of the enrollment plan (for medical specialties - at least 10%).

The new edition of the Admission Rules retains the following norms:

  • admission without entrance examinations to the winners of regional university Olympiads and an increase in the list of specialties;
  • accepting documents, conducting internal entrance tests and enrolling target-oriented applicants and winners of regional university Olympiads into higher education institutions in a separate stage of the admission campaign (scheduled from June 27 to July 12);
  • enrollment of graduates of all lyceums at higher education institutions (BSU, BNTU, VSU, BRU, POLESU) without entrance tests if they have marks of at least 9 points in specialized subjects and at least 8 points in all other academic subjects;
  • the possibility of admission to the higher education institution without entrance tests for all categories of gifted, talented and motivated applicants.

Amendments and additions to the Admission Rules will contribute to the further development of the system of admission of applicants on the basis of fair, equal and transparent conditions.
