Department : Economics and Law

In 1956, the Department of Political Economy was created at the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute, which in 1994. was renamed the Department of Economic Theories. In 2002, the Department of Economics and Law was created at the FTUG, which included many teachers of economic disciplines who worked at this faculty. 17 years of independent existence of the departments ended with the decision of the BNTU rectorate to join the Department of Economic Theories to the Department of Economics and Law. Thus, the unity of scientific minds and highly qualified teachers of economic disciplines at the FTUG was achieved.

Today, the Department of Economics and Law trains specialists in economic profile with knowledge of the legal foundations of economic activity, and since 2020, for the first time in the CIS, the training of specialists in engineering and economic profile in the field of ensuring the economic security of an industrial enterprise has been opened.

The scientific school of S. Yu. Solodovnikov in the field of economic modernization research on the basis of the department, its highly qualified young creative team provide a high level of training. The department consists of 4 professors - doctors of sciences, 9 associate professors - candidates of sciences. Most of the staff of the department has significant experience in the real sector of the economy and in public administration. Specialists from the institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Education and other organizations are involved in teaching students.
