The Department of Marketing was established in 1996 and has been a leading entity ever since. It prepares highly qualified marketing economists. Currently, the department boasts 1 professor, 7 associate professors and candidates of science, 7 senior lecturers. The department oversees more than 20 disciplines within the marketing field. Irina Alexandrovna Shamardina, PhD in Economics and Associate Professor, heads the department.
Faculty members annually publish academic and instructional materials. The department's faculty actively participates in scientific conferences, both domestically and abroad. Key research directions include assessing product competitiveness, marketing studies in goods and services markets, industrial enterprise logistics system development, and optimizing product distribution networks.
The department places significant emphasis on practical student training. Students gain hands-on experience at leading companies across the country through 12 designated internship bases, including a branch at the Marketing Department of Minsk Tractor Works.
Faculty members and graduate students engage in roundtable discussions with industry leaders. They teach international and industrial marketing, participate in faculty and university scientific conferences and seminars. The department collaborates with top companies where students can conduct marketing and scientific research, gaining valuable marketing experience.
Since 2013, as part of the "FMMF School," BNTU has launched the specialized "Marketing and Advertising School" under the leadership of Associate Professor of the Marketing Department, S.V. Glubokiy. Many school participants, who received certificates after passing entrance exams, enrolled in FMMF. The "Marketing and Advertising School" helps students choose careers as marketing analysts, advertising designers, and merchandisers by allowing them to interact with future instructors and industry professionals.
The department collaborates with many international universities: - Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology, National University of Science and Technology (Russia) - Polytechnic University (Ukraine) - Riga Technical University (Latvia) - Tallinn Technical University (Estonia) - Greenwich Business School (UK) - Osnabrück University (Germany) - University of Twente (Netherlands) - Tor Vergata University (Italy) By virtue of bilateral agreements, dozens of foreign nationals study at the department.
In addition to acquiring theoretical knowledge, students are involved in various projects throughout their studies, gaining practical skills. Marketing students learn to create sales texts, commercial proposals, briefs, and brand books. They also organize various events and learn personal selling techniques. In their final years, future marketers conduct research and develop strategies and new products based on Belarusian enterprise examples. Only our faculty equips marketers with fundamental knowledge of manufacturing design and technology, giving them an advantage over graduates of other universities. Our faculty also has its "Modern Foreign Languages Department," making linguistic training more effective for marketing students.
In the course of study, managers from various companies, marketing consultants, and industry professionals are invited to lectures, enabling students to acquaint themselves with business environments and to obtain contacts. The program's specialized course materials are regularly updated based on contemporary national and international research.
In addition to specialized courses, students fully study economic disciplines. This preparation allows graduates to succeed in various positions and fields. The faculty has also established partnerships with various Belarusian and international companies, facilitating the post-graduation job placement of graduates.
