Today, May 7, on the eve of Victory Day, representatives of the Belarusian National Technical University visited former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps. Warm words and sincere wishes were extended to the guests by Vasily Sychik, Irina Kuzmitskaya, Vladimir Poltorukhin, Elvira Novikova, Maria Sharts, and Vladimir Rubakhin.
Representatives of BNTU youth organizations, the Center for Ideological Work, and Youth Affairs, together with the Belarusian Union of Women, offered heartfelt congratulations to the heroes. The guests expressed their deep gratitude to the veterans for their courage and resilience and wished them good health and well-being. As a sign of deep respect, they were presented with bouquets of flowers and lovingly assembled food packages from the BNTU catering center. Each also received financial assistance from the university's employee trade union.
Yulia Myshko, Head of the Department of Organizational and Methodological Support for Educational Work at the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs, emphasized the special significance of such visits on the eve of the great holiday:
– Congratulations from former concentration camp prisoners serve as a powerful reminder of the tragedy of war, the resilience of the human spirit, and the pricelessness of peace. For modern generations, this has long been not just a tradition, but a vital necessity. It is in moments like these that historical memory is preserved. We have the chance to hear firsthand the testimonies of those who survived these horrors, so we can pass them on to future generations and prevent them from being forgotten. Personal interaction fosters a sense of deep gratitude, helps young people understand the true price of Victory, and fosters vital humanistic values. This is a unique opportunity to connect with living history, strengthen the bond between generations, and demonstrate genuine concern for our elders.
Those who endured such difficult trials are living memories for us and true examples of incredible fortitude. We must care for the older generation, preserve the memory of those terrible events, and cherish the peaceful skies. We bow low to them and wish them a long life!
