On July 30, a delegation from Xiangtan University (China) visited the Belarusian National Technical University to discuss issues of cooperation in the field of education and science.

The delegation was represented by Liu Jing, Secretary of the CPC Committee, Zhang Yuelang, Director of the Department of Party Affairs and General Administration, Chen Long, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Marxism, Zhang Yun, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Optoelectronics, Xia Zhoqiong, Deputy Director of the Center for International Exchange, and Wang Zhan and Cao Jianhua, specialists of the Department of International Relations.

The guests were greeted by Ksenia Yakushenko, Vice-Rector for Research, Svetlana Pankova, Deputy Director General for Development and Strategic Planning of the BNTU Polytechnic Science and Technology Park, Alexander Svistun, Dean of the Faculty of Instrument Engineering, Anastasia Arabey, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Nikolay Vishnyakov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation, Roman Vorobey, Head of the Department of Information and Measurement Engineering and Technology and Elena Shcherbakova, who is responsible for the educational and methodological work of the Instrument Engineering Faculty.

First, the delegation had a tour of the Polytechnic Scientific and Technical University, which was conducted by Alexey Aldoshin, head of the Belarusian Center for Scientific and Technical Cooperation with the People's Republic of China at the BNTU Polytechnic Technopark. Thus, representatives of Xiangtan University were presented with advanced developments of the technopark, among them innovative solutions in the field of high—tech production of medical devices, including hip arthroplasty, as well as products used in cardiology, traumatology and neurosurgery. The guests were particularly interested in developments aimed at import substitution, which have already been successfully supplied to domestic healthcare institutions.

The parties then proceeded to discuss key areas of cooperation. The focus turned to three areas: the organization of joint educational programs, the creation of a joint scientific laboratory and the conduct of joint scientific research. The parties worked out in detail possible formats of interaction within the framework of the future laboratory and outlined priority topics for joint research.

The culmination of the visit program was a visit to the laboratories of the Instrument Engineering Faculty, where the delegation was able to personally assess the research potential of BNTU. The guests were shown the material equipment of the laboratories and the methods of teaching students. Representatives of the Chinese side highly appreciated the level of equipment of the laboratory base and expressed interest in long-term scientific cooperation, as well as discussed the possibility of sharing laboratory facilities for joint research.

We thank the representatives of Xiangtan University for their constructive dialogue and high level of interaction. We are confident that the visit will serve as a powerful impetus for the further development of the Belarusian-Chinese scientific and technical partnership.
