Today, on May 4, Professor Peter Musiiva of the Department of Electronics at the Harare Institute of Technology gave a lecture to students of the Faculty of Instrument Engineering at the Belarusian National Technical University. The event was organized as part of the implementation of the State Program "Belarus Intelligent" for 2026-2030.
The professor's lecture focused on promising materials for electronics, specifically wide-band semiconductors.
For reference, wide-band semiconductors are materials (such as silicon carbide and gallium nitride) that enable the creation of faster, higher-voltage, and higher-temperature devices.
Such devices are widely used in high-performance power electronics devices: charging stations for electric vehicles, “fast chargers” for smartphones, energy converters for wind farms, and in space electronics for satellites.
During the lecture, the professor explained in detail the physical principles underlying wide-band semiconductors, the calculation of their parameters, and the design of devices based on them.
The lecture was held in a lively and relaxed atmosphere, with students actively participating in the discussion and asking questions. In turn, Peter Musiiva tried to explain the key concepts and technical nuances related to wide-band semiconductors in a detailed and accessible manner. This format of communication allowed the students to better understand the material and directly ask the specialist about their concerns.
