On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the Olympiad on Chinese language skills was held at the Belarusian National Technical University. The event was organized within the framework of the activities of the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology of BNTU (ICST).
For reference: the Chinese Language Olympiad at BNTU has been held since 2022. It is part of the educational initiatives of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology of the BNTU and the BRSM aimed at popularizing the Chinese language and culture among young people. The format of the event allows students and trainees of the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology of BNTU to participate with different levels of language proficiency: from beginner to advanced. The purpose of the Olympiad is to assess the level of Chinese language proficiency among students, as well as to motivate them to further study the language and culture of China.
The participants were divided into two age categories: younger (10-15 years old) and older (over 16 years old). Representatives of each category had to complete tasks of three levels of difficulty:
- initial (from six months to a year of study, approximate HSK level 1-2);
- average (more than a year of study, approximate HSK level 3-4);
- high (several years of study, approximate HSK level 5-6).
The tasks of the Olympiad were focused on knowledge of both the Chinese language and the culture of China. Upon its completion, an award ceremony was held.
Vladimir Kleenkov (from the Belarusian side) and Li Wenxue (from the Chinese side), Directors of the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology at BNTU, congratulated the participants on their good results and presented diplomas and memorable gifts to the winners.
In the junior group, the prizes were distributed as follows:
Entry level:
- first place – Anastasia Kazachkova (student of the ICNT Language and Culture Center at Teacher Wei Chinese Language School);
- second place – Oksana Mankevich and Arina Dubrovina (students of the ICNT Language and Culture Center at Teacher Wei Chinese Language School);
- third place – Nicoletta Smolyak, Evgenia Kravchenko and Ivan Zhigarev (students of the ICNT Language and Culture Center at Teacher Wei Chinese Language School);
Intermediate level:
- first place – Albina Pavlova-Tyutenkova (student of the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology at BNTU);
- second place – Alesya Kumeisha (student of the ICNT Language and Culture Center at Teacher Wei Chinese Language School);
- third place – Ilya Ryazanov (a student of the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology at BNTU).
The results in the senior group are as follows:
Entry level:
- first place – Ulyana Demeshchenko (student of the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology at BNTU);
- second place – Victoria Nazarova (student of the Faculty of Energy Engineering, student of the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology at BNTU);
- third place – Yulia Bezrukavaya (student of the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology at BNTU);
Intermediate level:
- first place – Elizaveta Dudina (student of the ICNT Language and Culture Center at Teacher Wei Chinese Language School);
- second place – Anna Zhigunova (a student at the ICNT Language and Culture Center at Teacher Wei Chinese Language School) and Anna Romanyuk (a student at the BNTU Confucius Institute for Science and Technology).;
- third place – Alexandra Yakusheva (a student of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering), Maria Ivochkina (a student of the ICNT Language and Culture Center at Teacher Wei Chinese Language School) and Sofia Trifonova (a student of the Faculty of Marketing, Management, Entrepreneurship);
High level:
- first place – Erika Shatalova (student of the ICNT Language and Culture Center at Teacher Wei Chinese Language School);
- second place – Alexandra Vasilevskaya (student of the ICNT Language and Culture Center at the Chinese Language School of Teacher Wei);
- third place – Daria Malakhova (a student at the ICNT Language and Culture Center at Teacher Wei's Chinese Language School).
