Today, September 25, the main building of the Belarusian National Technical University hosted the celebration of the World Confucius Institutes Day. Thanks to the program prepared by the BNTU Confucius Institute for Science and Technology (CIST), everyone had the opportunity to immerse themselves for a day in the unforgettable atmosphere of Chinese culture.
World Confucius Institutes Day is a holiday dedicated to the establishment of Confucius Institutes abroad by the Chinese government's Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) as an international network of educational institutions. On this day, Confucius Institutes around the world organize ceremonial events, master classes, open lessons in Chinese language and culture, and demonstration performances. Our BNTU Confucius Institute for Science and Technology traditionally joined the worldwide celebration and presented its platforms and interactive zones for Polytechnic students.
Thus, the guests of the celebration were treated to both mysterious fortune-telling based on Chinese characters and traditional entertainments, such as the graceful art of spinning scarves in the Erzhenzhuan style.
Next, a photo exhibition was presented, highlighting the ten-year history of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology at BNTU. The chronology of events reflected in the photographs covered the period from the institute's founding to its recent key events.
The grand finale of this venue was a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Guests were able not only to taste aromatic tea but also to learn that in China, its preparation and consumption is a true ritual filled with philosophical meaning.
Participation in the interactive zones was also taken by the director of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology on the Belarusian side, Vladimir Kleenkov, who spoke about the history of the institute and the entertainment areas on display.
– In the first hall, a photo exhibition covering our entire 10 years of work is presented. In one of the photos, BNTU Rector Sergey Kharitchonok awards the Rector of the Northeast University, Feng Xiatin, with the honorary badge 'Honorary Professor of BNTU' and a certificate. The following photos depict our entire 10-year history. I would like to remind you that last year the Confucius Institute celebrated its 10th anniversary. In this zone, you can also try tea and participate in a tea ceremony master class. On the other side, there are two more master classes: calligraphy and Gohua painting, – shared Vladimir Kleenkov.
