"Navruz – friendship holiday" is back at BNTU

«Навруз – праздник дружбы» снова в БНТУ

Today, on April 3, Navruz was celebrated in the sanatorium of BNTU “Polytechnic”. Representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and China took part in the celebration.

For reference: Navruz is a New Year's holiday according to the ancient calendar, which is celebrated by many peoples of Central Asia, the Middle East, the Caucasus and some other regions. The celebration is a symbol of the renewal of nature and hope for a better future. It has become a good tradition at the Polytechnic to celebrate this holiday by learning about the history and culture of friendly countries.

At the celebration, those present had fun participating in sports competitions, contests and master classes. In addition, a field kitchen with treats from the Belarusian National Technical University was set up. However, the most important treat of the day was pilaf, prepared by teams from different countries according to ancient recipes.

– We have been holding Navruz at BNTU for several years now, and this year was no exception. The importance of holding international events at our university is to create a platform where students from different countries can exchange opinions, get to know each other, and communicate with management and teachers in an informal setting," said Nikolay Vishnyakov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation.

The celebration was accompanied by oriental music, lively communication, lots of smiles and bright emotions. At the same time, the teams of the countries were preparing pilaf, the aroma of which spread throughout the territory of the dispensary.

Upon completion of cooking, representatives of the Polytechnic's management began the long-awaited tasting to choose the most delicious option. Any participant of the celebration could join them.

Thus, three types of pilaf from the teams of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan were presented to the jury for evaluation. They had their own unique taste, so everyone could find pilaf according to their preferences and appreciate the chefs' skills.

– Navruz at BNTU is always remembered for its warm atmosphere. This is a rebirth, a New Year for the Turkic people. The holiday is filled with music, the aroma of pilaf and the communication of students from different countries. My family also celebrates Nowruz by cooking national dishes and inviting guests. Pilaf is more of an Uzbek dish, and in Kazakhstan, Nauryz traditionally serves beshbarmak with flatbreads, potatoes and meat. Navruz is a symbol of warmth and spring for everyone, regardless of nationality," said Polina Khokhlova, a student of the Faculty of Architecture from Kazakhstan.

At the end of the event, an award ceremony was held for the winners of the mini-football tournament and the teams in the national cuisine competition. The rector of BNTU Sergey Kharitonchik took the stage to honor the winners.

– I am very glad that the Navruz holiday has become an integral part of the culture of our university, and it is no longer news in Belarus that we celebrate it. Bright, with dancing, delicious food, pilaf, good mood and wonderful weather.

Then Sergey Vasilyevich announced the verdict of the competent jury. Each team was given a corresponding nomination:

  • "The most fragrant pilaf" – the team of Tajikistan;
  • "The most original pilaf serving" – the team of Turkmenistan;
  • "The most delicious pilaf" – the team of Uzbekistan

Moreover, the rector congratulated the participants of the mini-football tournament. The participant's diploma was awarded to the teams "China-1", "China-2", "Turkmenistan-2" and "Tajikistan-2". The prizes were distributed as follows:

  • diploma I - team  "Uzbekistan";
  • diploma II -  team "Turkmenistan-1";
  • diploma III -  team "Tadzhikistan-1".

In addition, Belarusian and foreign students congratulated the participants on the bright spring holiday. In the national costumes of their countries, the artists demonstrated the rich culture of the peoples in musical compositions, choreographic numbers and lyrical readings of poems.

The Navruz holiday has become a symbol of boundless friendship between BNTU and the peoples of the Eastern countries. Congratulations to the winners of the competition, and we wish all participants well-being, kindness and peace!
