From June 27 to June 29, 2022 in Astrakhan in the sports complex of water sports "Star" the competitions of the VIII All-Russian Summer Universiade 2022 in swimming were held. The competition was attended by 39 sports delegations representing student sports clubs of the Russian Federation - a total of 261 students of Russian universities. Belarus was represented by athletes from the Belarusian National Technical University.
In May 2022, the regulations for the VIII All-Russian Summer Universiade 2022 were amended regarding admission to official All-Russian physical culture events for teams and participants from foreign countries. In accordance with the regulations, the All-Russian Summer Universiade is held once every two years, in two stages (1st regional, 2nd final) among undergraduate and graduate students of full-time education. The swimming team of the Belarusian National Technical University in the amount of 5 athletes was invited to these competitions by the Republican Center for Physical Education and Sports as a silver medalist of the Republican Universiade.
The BNTU team was represented by five masters of sports: Dmitry Sobolevsky (FTUG), Evgeny Busov (FTUG), Elizaveta Zapolskaya (STF undergraduate), Ekaterina Makarova (FTUG), Gleb Dudal (STF).
The competition program of the All-Russian Summer Universiade includes sprint distances of 50m and 100m in all swimming styles, 200m medley and relay races of 4x100m medley and 4x100m freestyle.
Each athlete took part in three disciplines and relay swimming (mixed relay). The best result was shown by Evgeny Busov (FTUG) in the 100m freestyle with a score of 51.99 and took 6th place,
The program of the Republican Universiade in swimming is much wider than the All-Russian one and includes competitive distances in all ways of swimming: 50m, 100m and 200m; 400m and 800m freestyle; 200m and 400m medley and 4x100m relay.
During the trip, meetings were also organized between the sports delegations of Russia and Belarus and the leadership of the Russian Student Sports Union, an exchange of information on specialties and training opportunities at I and II levels of education at Russian universities and BNTU.
Participation in international competitions for each athlete of our team is important in the accumulation of competitive experience.
Upon arrival, Dmitry Sobolevsky took part in the Open Cup of the Republic of Belarus in swimming held in Brest from June 28 to July 02, 2022, and took 2nd place at a distance of 200m backstroke.
