On April 3, 2026, a dialogue platform titled “Youth in the Digital Space: Rules of Conduct and Protection Against Fraud” was held at the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics of BNTU. The event was attended by students and faculty members.
The invited speakers were Denis N. Petrashkevich, Head of a Department of the Central Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant Colonel of Police, and Vyacheslav M. Runets, Deputy Head of a Department of the Central Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant Colonel of Police.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to issues of safe behavior in the digital environment. The speakers gave a detailed overview of the risks associated with the use of mobile applications and social networks, particularly messaging platforms and news channels. It was noted that users often subscribe to online resources without checking their content, while the focus of such channels may later change and include calls for unlawful activity. It was emphasized that even passive engagement — likes, comments, or reposts — may result in administrative or criminal liability.
A separate part of the discussion focused on modern types of online fraud. Participants were informed about the most common deception schemes, including phone scams that use social engineering techniques and voice deepfake technologies. The speakers strongly recommended not engaging in conversations with unknown callers, not sharing personal data, and making purchases only on trusted online platforms.
Issues related to the distribution of narcotic substances via the Internet were also addressed. Students were informed about the legal consequences of possession, use, and distribution of prohibited substances, as well as the severe liability associated with such offenses.
The dialogue also covered topics such as the creation of and participation in extremist groups, as well as the financing of extremist activities. The speakers emphasized the importance of responsible online behavior and personal accountability for one’s actions in the digital space.
In addition, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs spoke about career opportunities for graduates of technical specialties, highlighting the demand for qualified IT professionals and the prospects of service.
The meeting was held in an open dialogue format and gave students an opportunity to receive up-to-date information about current threats in the digital environment, as well as practical recommendations for ensuring personal and information security.
