Today, March 19, a dialogue session on "Crime Prevention Among Young People" was held at the Belarusian National Technical University for third-year students of the Automobile and Tractor Engineering, Power Engineering, Instrumentation, Management Technologies and Humanities, and Transport Communications departments.
Before the meeting, participants were shown a prevention film, which set the tone for the discussion and allowed them to identify key problem areas.
The speakers at the event were Police Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Maslov, Head of the Law Enforcement and Crime Prevention Department of the Public Safety Police of the Pervomaisky District Administration of Minsk, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Babich, Head of the State Automobile Inspectorate Department of the Public Safety Police of the Pervomaisky District Administration of Minsk.
Andrei Vladimirovich drew attention to the risks associated with attempts to make a quick buck. He emphasized that engaging in dubious side jobs, including courier work, can lead to criminal liability. The speaker also highlighted common cyber fraud schemes. Both children and adults fall for these calls, so it's important to warn family and friends.
Furthermore, Andrei Maslov noted that drug use and distribution can lead to addiction, even after just one use. He emphasized the need to observe rules of conduct in public places to avoid trouble, given the availability of CCTV cameras, which allow for the prompt detection of violations.
Aleksandr Vladimirovich emphasized the importance of paying attention when crossing the road, clarifying that everyone is a road user every day. He noted that pedestrians should put away their phones and headphones while driving on regulated and unregulated sections of the road and carefully assess the traffic situation. According to the speaker, even a moment's lapse in concentration can have dire consequences, especially when driving under the influence of alcohol, which is unacceptable and carries severe consequences.
The traffic police officer paid particular attention to motorcycles at the beginning of the season, as law enforcement is especially vigilant during this period to ensure compliance with traffic rules and the presence of documents. Alexander Vladimirovich also reminded participants about proper behavior on public transport: passengers should hold onto handrails to avoid injury.
The open dialogue format allowed the meeting participants not only to obtain useful information but also to ask questions, discuss real-life situations, and develop a greater awareness of personal and public safety.
