The department " Industrial design and packaging " was organized in 2008 in accordance with the decision of the BNTU Council (minutes No. 3 of April 01, 2008).

The training of specialists is carried out in the full-time form of study. Upon completion of the training and defense of the diploma thesis, the qualification of "Engineer-designer-designer", "Engineer-designer", "Engineer. Designer", "Engineer" is awarded.
The staff of the department has a high professional and scientific level. Currently, the department employs: 3 candidates of science, 6 senior teachers, 4 engineering and technical personnel.
Our department maintains extensive scientific relations with domestic research teams, international organizations and foreign research centers. Among them are the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University, the Gomel State Technical University, the Belarusian State Technological University, the Institutes of Nature Management and Physical and Organic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Scientific and Practical Center for Food of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Scientific and Practical Center for Agricultural Mechanization of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Belarus, as well as with the research center for the production of film KlocknerPentaplast (Montabauer, Germany). The department also actively cooperates with leading enterprises of the Republic of Belarus, such as CJSC ATLANT, RUPP Berezatara, RUE "Medpreparaty", JV CJSC "Milavitsa"; with the European Packaging Institute; National Confederation of Packers of Russia, associations of the packaging industry of other countries. The department develops contacts with foreign universities for the exchange of experience, which contributes to the provision of information support for the educational process, the search and attraction of financial resources of foreign and domestic enterprises for the development of the material base of the educational process.

The field of professional activity of a specialist in the field of packaging production covers the entire life cycle of packaging from the moment of its creation (design, design, etc.) to disposal or processing: production (design, testing of packaging, packaging equipment, packaging materials); education (auxiliary support of the educational process in laboratories; departments of technical universities in special disciplines; assisting in training sessions); science (research of technological processes of packaging production, determination of the properties of packaging materials, packaging).
The objects of professional activity of the graduate of the department are: enterprises for the production of packaging materials, packaging, packaging equipment, enterprises for the processing of packaging; enterprises of all industries with product packaging lines; service, design and research organizations; organization of education systems, entrepreneurial activities of this profile; production equipment; technological and production processes; design, technical, technological and design documentation; standardization systems; design projects.
Among our students are the winners of the international competition for the best packaging design " A Clockwork Orange ", the winners of the All-Russian competition for the best graphic design of the environmental label for packaging - " Eco-Pack. Russia ”, participants of international scientific conferences.
