Automotive engineers began to be trained at the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute (BPI) from the pre-war 1940. This year, an automotive department was opened at the Faculty of Mechanics with a profiling department "Automobiles". Since 2008, as part of the Automotive Engineering specialty, engineers have been trained in the following areas: 1-37 01 02-01 Automotive Engineering (Mechanics) and 1-37 01 02-02 Automotive Engineering (Electronics). Training of engineers in the direction 1-37 01 02-01 "Automotive industry (mechanics)" is carried out in two specializations: 1-37 01 02 01 "Trucks" and 1-37 01 02 04 "Computer-aided design of vehicles". The department "Automobiles" has been preparing specialists for the automotive industry for 70 years. The graduates of the department are 75 ... 80% equipped with the design and experimental services of MAZ, BelAZ and MZKT. The department maintains close ties with related departments and universities of the CIS: MSTU named after N.E. Employees of the department "Automobiles" are members of international societies of automotive engineers (FISITA, SAE, etc.). They take part in the World Automobile Congresses and conferences held under the auspices of FISITA, where they make reports and presentations. They improve their professional skills during scientific visits to foreign universities as part of the international exchange programs of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and FISITA.
