The participants of the 21st International Student Athletics Run "Izhevsk - Nizhny Novgorod - Minsk" continue their stay at BNTU.
Yesterday, May 8, students from Izhevsk State Technical University named after M. T. Kalashnikov and Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R. E. Alekseev, together with BNTU representatives and distinguished guests, paid tribute to the great feat of their ancestors and took part in a rally dedicated to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
After laying flowers, the run participants joined a roundtable discussion, where representatives of the BNTU Student Council presented their best patriotic projects. The video "BNTU Remembers" was of particular interest to the guests. "We Keep the Memory in Our Hearts," which tells how modern students preserve the truth about the war.
The day concluded with a tour of the Stalin Line historical and cultural complex. Participants inspected the border's engineering structures from the 1930s, examining the structure of two Soviet pillboxes, trenches, and armored turrets.
Today, May 9, Victory Day, students and staff from Belarusian and Russian universities visited the Khatyn Memorial Complex. Those present learned more about the history of the Khatyn tragedy and its "sisters"—the burned villages that shared its fate.
For many Russians, this visit was a revelation. Mikhail Biryukov, a student at R.E. Alekseyev Novosibirsk State Technical University, shared his impressions:
"Visiting the memorial complex gives you goosebumps, because it's an incredible tragedy." It was difficult to hear, see, and comprehend all of this. We must remember and understand the scale of the tragedy of the Great Patriotic War and truly appreciate the value of peaceful skies today.
In the evening, the run participants will enjoy a stroll through evening Minsk, culminating in a celebratory fireworks display.
