Golden Ten: cultural life

Золотая десятка: культурная жизнь

The cultural life of  Polytechnic University is filled with many memorable and bright events. Today, summing up the results of 2024, let us recall the most important events and bright creative achievements of the BNTU Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA).

So, within the framework of the city festival of folk art "Suzor'e" in 2024, six creative groups of the DCA successfully confirmed the title of "folk".There was a long preparation for the festival.The Folk Choral Chapel, the Folk Orchestra of Folk Instruments, the Folk Brass Band, the Folk Ensemble of Violinists presented solo concert programs to the expert jury, and the Folk studio theater "KolLisey" and the Folk Theater "SaTrAP" demonstrated new performances. All the teams performed brilliantly and were highly appreciated by the jury members, as well as were awarded the following awards:

  • Laureate's diploma – national theater studio "KolLisey";
  • diploma of the I degree – Folk Orchestra of Folk Instruments, Folk Theater "SaTrAP";
  • diploma of the II degree - Folk Ensemble of Violinists,  Folk Choral Chapel

In addition, following the results of the festival, the following groups without titles were awarded diplomas:

  • diploma of the I degree - folk song ensemble "Kakhanachka", dance ensemble "Druzhba", ballroom dance studio "Tango", vocal and pop studio "Vlublennaya dusha";
  • diploma of the III degree - Arina Kolesova, a member of the literary association "Polistikh", and Yegor Obolevich, a soloist of the vocal and pop studio "Vlyublennaya Dusha".

The performance of the creative teams of the department at the Republican festival of artistic creativity of pupils and students "Art-vacations - 2024" was successful. For the third time in a row, BNTU became the winner of the festival's Grand Prix .

A large concert program was presented at the competition, permeated with a feeling of love for the native land, the unity of the young generation in the desire to preserve enduring values. The performances of the creative teams of the department were highly appreciated by the republican jury and awarded 20 diplomas of winners and prize winners in various nominations.

The final gala concert was attended by the folk song ensemble "Kahanachka" and the  vocal and pop studio "Vlyublennaya Dusha". It was in the final that the absolute winners were awarded.

Thus, for many years of effective work in artistic and aesthetic education of youth and preserving the traditions of amateur creativity, the Grand Prix of the Republican Festival of Artistic Creativity of Pupils and Students "Art-vacations-2024" was awarded to the Department of Cultural Affairs of BNTU.

Traditionally, the student creativity festival "Vesna BNTU" is invariably one of the brightest events in the cultural life of the Polytechnic University. Each of the four creative days is assessed by a professional jury: art specialists, popular choreographers, famous artists, show program hosts. The event covers about 700 people as participants and 2600 spectators. A real gift to "Vesna" in 2024 was the equipment of the hall with a multimedia screen - so the festival became even brighter.

In the spring of 2024, the International Festival "Navruz - a holiday of friendship!" united about 1,500 Belarusian and foreign students from different universities and became one of the largest events of the year at the university. The festival was held on the territory of the BNTU sanatorium "Polytechnic".

The festival was attended by honorary guests from the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of various embassies. Exhibitions of national cultures, competitions, a contest for the best pilaf and a large concert program were organized. A professional group of artists from Uzbekistan arrived specially to participate in the event. Creative groups of the DCA performed on the same stage with them.

The ceremonial event dedicated to the Day of the National Flag, National Emblem and National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus is one of the most significant patriotic events in our country. The best groups from all over the republic are invited to participate in it. Last year, the vocal and pop studio "Vlyublennaya Dusha" took part in the event.

The concert program "Peace. Youth. Future", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, took place on June 8 at an open area near the Town Hall in the Upper City as part of the musical and tourist season of Minsk. The concert program did not leave residents and guests of the capital indifferent.

The two-hour program featured BNTU orchestras, an ensemble of violinists, national Belarusian culture, and songs from the war years. The event was brightly covered in the media and was awarded a letter of thanks from Minskconcert.

In 2024, another joint project of the Public Association "Belarusian Republican Youth Union" BNTU  and DCA took place – “the BNTU Student of the Year” competition. The event was preceded by a huge amount of preparatory work: the BNTU Media Center prepared profiles, as well as photo and video materials for the grand finale of the competition.

11 representatives from the university faculties competed for the title of the best. The winner of the competition, Ksenia Korteleva, a student of the Faculty of Marketing, Management, and Entrepreneurship, a participant of the school of presenters "Debut", successfully represented BNTU at the city stage of the competition and became one of the finalists of the republican competition “Student of the Year”.

Another memorable event of 2024 was the XVIII Interuniversity Competition of Student Films "VideoRadius BNTU", which united creative teams and individual authors of 80 films from 17 higher education institutions of the Republic of Belarus.

Last year, a grant from the President of the Republic of Belarus in the field of youth policy was allocated for the development and implementation of the competition: the material and technical base of the competition was strengthened, a new design of branded products was developed, the logo of the competition was changed and an expanded prize fund was formed.

Famous people in the field of cinema were invited as jury members:a cinematographer, a film director, a laureate of international competitions, a Master of Cinematography, associate professor of the cinematography department of the Belarusian Academy of Arts Petr Krivostanenko, a theater and film actress, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Irina Narbekova, a director, a producer, an expert in the field of modern media production Maxim Maximov.

The participants were able to communicate with the jury members and listen to their opinion about their film. The Grand Prix of the competition and the main prize of the festival – a laptop – went to Gorki.

On the eve of the New Year, on December 17, a large solo concert of the Folk Ensemble of Violinists "Winter Caprice" took place, which gathered fans of violin music. Works by famous composers of various styles, from classical to jazz, were performed.

The tremulous sound of the violins left no one indifferent. The musicians were able to give the audience unforgettable impressions and a pre-New Year mood.

The performance "Magic New Year" became a real gift for children of BNTU employees and students. The event is held annually on the initiative of the university rectorate. In 2024, young viewers met fairy-tale characters: the Snow Queen, Kai and Gerda. Together with the heroes of the fairy tale, they made an extraordinary journey, together helped the Snow Maiden and the Snowman overcome obstacles on the way and rejoiced at the victory of good over evil.

Thus, 2024 became a year of creative growth, cultural exchange and bright events for the Belarusian National Technical University that left unforgettable impressions on all participants. The Department of Cultural Affairs continues to work on creating a cultural environment that promotes the development of students' creative potential.
