Among other things, the Belarusian National Technical University pays great attention to ideological and educational work. In this regard, we present 10 significant events organized in 2024 as part of ideological and educational work.

Open mic with the President of the Republic of Belarus

The BNTU activists had a unique opportunity on September 27 at an "Open Mic with the President of the Republic of Belarus." Students of technical universities in Minsk could ask any question to the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and get an answer. A variety of topics were raised, from space flights to the first Belarusian phone.

Student Open Knowledge

The main objective of the project is to extend knowledge about political and socio-economic events in the country, to develop the ability to analyze information about social phenomena, problems of development of modern society. It was organized as part of the Open Knowledge project by the Belarusian National Technical University with the support of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

A lot of important and significant topics were raised during the event. In total, seven meetings were held within the walls of  BNTU:

  • “The Impact of Social Networks on Society and Youth” – November 6; speaker – General Director of the Minsk-Novosti Agency Andrey Krivosheev;
  • "National Security in Modern Conditions" – November 14; speaker – Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Buzin;
  • "Elections and We: A Youth View" - November 21; speaker - Chairman of the Soviet district organization of the Republican Public Organization "Belaya Rus" Vadim Kudin;
  • “We remember the past, value the present and think about the future” – November 28; speaker – Head of the administration of the Sovietsky district of Minsk, Sergei Khilman;
  • "Youth as a socio-cultural and demographic resource for the development of modern society" - December 5; speaker - Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the VIII convocation, member of the Standing Committee on Healthcare, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy Natalia Dergach;
  • "Student teams: traditions and innovations" - December 12; speaker - First Secretary of the Minsk City Committee of the Public Organization "Belarusian Republican Youth Union", Deputy of the Minsk City Council of Deputies Roman Bondaruk;
  • "Public consent as the basis for stable development of the Belarusian state" – December 19; speaker – Secretary General of the Belarusian Red Cross, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Healthcare, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy Dmitry Shevtsov.

"The Joy of Easter"

As part of the Easter Joy project, on May 8, BNTU hosted a meeting with a delegation led by Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.The meeting included laying flowers at the monument to students and teachers of the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute who died during the Great Patriotic War, visiting an exhibition of works by the Faculty of Architecture dedicated to Easter, and a performance by the Folk Choir 

The meeting continued in the BNTU Hall of Fame, where the guests were also presented with a valuable gift – a sketch for the beautification of the Holy Waters territory, created by representatives of the BNTU Faculty of Architecture. In addition, Valery Grakhov, Rector of Izhevsk State Technical University named after M. T. Kalashnikov, was awarded the title of "Honorary Professor of BNTU".

At the end of the meeting, Metropolitan left a wish in the book of honored guests of BNTU.

"Youth about the main thing"

The project "Youth about the Main Thing" was organized on the initiative of BNTU students. It included open and equal discussions between university students and BNTU youth leaders. Their outcome was a direct exchange of opinions on current social issues.

The main topic of the meetings is "The election of the President of the Republic of Belarus: the future depends on us." They were held at all faculties. The speakers were representatives of the BNTU Student Council, Public Association "Belarusian Republican Youth Union" BNTU  and Primary trade union organization of BNTU students.

“StudMedia”

In 2024, a new youth Telegram channel of BNTU "StudMedia" began its work. The resource is run by activists of the BNTU student council, where you can find a lot of interesting and important information, as well as the latest news from the Polytechnic University. Christmas Ball

On December 24, at the Republican New Year's Ball for Young People, the Belarusian National Technical University was represented by 11 students who achieved high results in their studies, scientific, cultural, sports and social activities.Earlier, on December 19, the Polytechnic University hosted a Christmas Ball, where BNTU Rector Sergei Kharytonchyk awarded 37 students for their active participation in the social and cultural life of the university; the names of the king and queen of the ball were also announced.

BNTU remembers

The Belarusian National Technical University remembers the terrible events during the Great Patriotic War, how much pain and grief the war brought.That is why, within the framework of the campaign of the same name, a number of events are being held, which include the preparation of a video clip of the creative project "We keep memory in our hearts. BNTU remembers" by the BNTU Student Council with the assistance of the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs (CIWYA), congratulations to veterans by activists of the BNTU Youth Union, video congratulations from cadets of the BNTU Military Technical Faculty and the grand opening of the updated exposition of the exhibition "History of the Great Patriotic War in Faces" from the BNTU Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs (CIWYA) on May 9, a requiem meeting at the Trostenets memorial complex near the Gates of Memory monument, dedicated to the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People on June 21, and much more.All events are aimed at preserving the memory of the heroic deeds and destinies of every Belarusian who contributed to the liberation of the country and the Great Victory.

Volunteer Week

On the eve of the International Volunteer Day on December 5, BNTU traditionally held a week of volunteering. The faculties of the educational institution organized various charity events and events. For example, a visit to the orphanage No. 3 in Minsk for orphans with special needs of psychophysical development was organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where students actively participated in cleaning the territory, organizing holidays and collecting gifts. Students of the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy also took part, visiting the Rodnik boarding house and organizing a Day of Russian Poetry for pensioners and the disabled. Similar actions were supported by other faculties of the Polytechnic University.

Meeting with cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Marina Vasilevskaya

In 2024, for the first time in the history of sovereign Belarus, a citizen of the country, Hero of Belarus Marina Vasilevskaya, flew into space. A native of Belarus, Russian cosmonaut, member of the cosmonaut corps of the Yuri Gagarin Research and Testing Cosmonaut Training Center, Hero of the Russian Federation, Honorary Professor of BNTU Oleg Novitsky was appointed commander of the ship. On October 17, they visited the Belarusian National Technical University. Polytechnic activists were able to learn more about space and the difficulties that cosmonauts faced, and ask questions.

Athletics run

On May 8, a meeting of the XIX International Student Athletics Run dedicated to Victory Day was held in front of the main building of BNTU. The event was aimed at patriotic education, popularization of athletics and a healthy lifestyle among student youth of the two countries. In 2024, the run started in Izhevsk and went along the route "Izhevsk - Nizhny Novgorod - Minsk - Nizhny Novgorod - Izhevsk".

As part of the rally, a ceremonial handover of the run pennant took place, representatives of three universities laid flowers at the Stele of the employees and students of the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute who died during the Great Patriotic War and went on an excursion to the historical and cultural complex "Stalin Line".

With this, the selection of significant events within the framework of ideological and educational work has come to an end. The year 2024 was very eventful  at BNTU, and we are confident that 2025 will be no less bright.
