BNTU is a scientific organization and operates in the following main areas:
As a result of R&D, new materials, technologies, advanced devices and installations, software products are created, pilot batches and small-scale ready-to-sell products are produced.
BNTU has 37 scientific schools headed by leading scientists of Belarus in the fields of construction, architecture, energy, transport communications, mechanical engineering, automotive and tractor building, transport, instrumentation, laser technologies, metrology, economics, mining, etc.
The following structural divisions are engaged in scientific, scientific-technical and innovation activities at BNTU:
BNTU has 2 certified management systems for R&D: quality management system (Certificate of Conformity of the Republic of Belarus No. BY/112 05.01.077 00437); labor protection management system (certificate of conformity of the Republic of Belarus No. BY/112 05.04.077 00746).
BNTU is the parent organization for 3 SPNI ("Energy systems, processes and technologies", materials and technologies", "Mechanics, metallurgy, diagnostics in mechanical engineering", "Fundamental and applied sciences - medicine).
BNTU performs tasks within the framework of scientific and technical programs (state, regional, union state) and state research programs, BRFFR projects, business agreements and contracts with enterprises and organizations of the republic, foreign institutions and organizations of the EU, Asia and the CIS.
Scientific research is carried out at the request of OJSC "MAZ", OJSC "MTW", OJSC "Belaruskali", OJSC "BelAZ", OJSC "Forging Plant of Heavy Forgings", OJSC "Universal", OJSC "BATE", as well as such well-known foreign companies, such as CJSC Corporation Zashchita (Russia), CJSC PP Tekhnika (Russia), Skania CV AB, Volvo Car Corporation AB (Sweden), Daimler AG, BMW (Germany) and others.
The introduction of developments at enterprises, institutions and organizations of the republic made it possible to solve the problems of import substitution, resource and energy saving, increase the energy efficiency of production, train innovation-oriented specialists, create new and modernize existing industries, create competitive products on the world market.
